daepp, ahhhh, the nosebleed section, I remember it like it was yesterday back in 2009. You know it was warmer drinking beer at the beer stand than in the seats that yr. That was a great game this yr, bummer for Army 11 straight losses. What is your daughter's major, what Co and Battalion?? My 2010 grad will be getting married in the Chapel this aug 3. |
Daughter is currently taking Chinese and intends to major in it. She seems to have a gift for languages, but of course USNA pushes STEM. We'll see - she is a very good writer and communicator, and I have to believe Navy needs these folks too!

Christmas eve...
The gingerbread house, the sparkling wine inside http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1356401110.jpg The farolitos in the snow outside http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1356401146.jpg The neighborhood shuts off the streetlights for Xmas eve. Out go the little lunchbags of sand and candles. We moved in 18 mo ago and, after graciously giving us a pie and a bottle of wine, the neighbors started in with the "Let's talk about Christmas Eve..." Pretty, though... |

"Lunchbags"??? They're called Luminarias down in Albuquerque... Farolitos, by some, in Santa Fe... and I guess, Los Alamos... |
Yeah! Luminarias!
Up here is LA we're an even stranger kind of norteno... Preparing the luminarias http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1356411301.jpg |
Farolitos if one knows the local language and history; luminarias if you're from Texas.

Christmas in NM and all the people trying to copy the tradition, please use the terms correct terms that have been used in SFNM for centuries...
candle-lit paper bags are called farolitos, and the pitchwood bonfires are known as luminarias . Santa Feans venture onto snowy Canyon Road for annual Farolito Walk - The Santa Fe New Mexican |
