Imagine the rumble of an exhaust leak and a slight carbon monoxide buzz.

See,

I've always wanted to do that to my 4WD as well but never gotten around to it

The Tracker is at the end of it's life span - fraking rust! I want to zebra up a 3-4k Jeep Cherokee or CJ Jeep next. However the ultimate would be if I can get into an Isuzu VehiCROSS and put stripes on it, but that's a lot more money for a winter beater.

On a late August morning, at a Watkin's Glen bed and breakfast, 300? yards away...

I didn't notice the deer grazing until I downloaded the image.

if its not a stupid question, how did you decide a pattern to the stripes

did you have a pattern to mask around?

I studied all the zebra striped cars I could find doing a Google image search. Many I did not like because they made the same mistake I did 25 years ago when making a tiger striped van, got cheap and had them spaced too far apart.

The second step was printing actual photos of zebra and giving them some study, looking for patterns and looking closely at their faces too.

I then drew a simple line drawing of my car and filled it in with a felt tipped pen. I looked at the hood too, not just the side of the car, transitions between the planes are very important.

Lots of masking tape, cardboard, newspapers and X-acto blades for trimming and fine tuning. Two days of laying tape, if I did not like something, I just pulled it off and re-did it prior to painting it with spray cans.

Tips:

1. Don't spay in 15 mph winds like I did.

2. You can go cheap on the paint, but use good 3M tape - I did not as it was a pain.

3. Don't spay any cars, houses, animals or stupid people in the way.

4. Wear a mask, gloves and eye protection if you can.

From my crappy cell phone - from yesterday's targa-top-off drive in the foothills:
