Thanks! she's really excited about the kitchen! Nothing major, just moved the cabinets around a bit, new counters, new backsplash. Fresh paint, and I rewired it while it was all pulled apart

all started because my wife wanted a new sliding door

Sliding door comes out, sill is rotted. Had to take off deck to fix sill

Didn't make sense to put on a new deck, because we knew we needed drain tile, so we'd have to do drain tile first
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1307675026.jpg

Once backhoe was there, we knew it made sense to repair the cracked & heaved foundation wall on the garage
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1307675148.jpg

Also found out there wasn't a proper foundation or footing under our kitchen, so had them pour one
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1307675393.jpg

If they're pouring concrete, it made sense to pour footings for a breezeway between the house & garage
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1307675205.jpg

notfarnow 06-09-2011 07:19 PM

Once the footings were in, made sense to frame in the addition & put in new windows there
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1307675297.jpg

Oh and we need a nice big closet, and we can use some nice old doors that I bought for $50 from a client
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1307675609.jpg

Also means we could take down the old closet by the old entrance, and open that area up a bit
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1307675537.jpg

When the breezeway was done, the kitchen window now looks out into the new addition, so we wanted to put a new window in, which meant moving the sink, so might as well put nice counters & backsplash.

Note: bondo

Once the walls were open, made sense to rewire the kitchen, which meant tidying up the wiring in the whole downstairs back to the panel

etc etc

still coming this summer:
- new side stairs with a patio area
- new lawn
-flooring in breezeway addition

then a 6 week break so we can have a baby

Then in the fall:
- all new windows, with nice wide casings
- roof on the front of the house
- master ensuite
- coffered ceilings in kitchen/diningroom
- wainscotting throughout main floor & master bedroom
- new bathroom upstairs

then I'm buying a 911. that's the %$#&in' deal!

billybek 06-09-2011 07:40 PM

I did my reno first.
Bought the 911 THEN the baby came along!
Just sold my Starcraft pop up camper. I called it my mental health provider. Hadn't been out of the backyard for 3 summers, but when the monster swingset arrived, something had to go.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1307676834.jpg
I had this little camper up and down the west coast, down to Cabo and though most of the southern interior of BC. I will miss it!

Oh, and while you're in there. Nice work. It'll make a lot of difference.

Thanks! We are trying to renovate smart, and take advantage of opportunities to do upgrades while we are hacking & hewing. It's an old house, and I know there is a cap on what it's worth so I am trying to be conservative

The little red car (that is it's name now) is an SC. Not in too bad of shape, but there had been some panels repainted and the colour match is not great. I need to see if the guys that teach the auto body at work could do something with it
Here is my monkey, now 3 years 4 months old.

Holy carp! You're a mad man. Looks like fun in an S&M sort of way. You'll be REALLY happy with it when you're done though.

Congrats, good luck, congrat, and congrats

(preggers, reno's, baby, 911)

My 9 year-old's band is using GarageBand Smart Drums as backing on one song...also starting to play with multi-track recording a little bit. It's truly amazing that we have this technology in a handheld battery-powered device!

Nice kitty, big, nice kitty.

Ignoring the porch light - check out the backlight on the fangs. That's cool!

Check out this closeup of my cockatiel (properly it's a photo of my cock - OK as I'm not running for congress)
