From a recent visit to W.R. Hearst's former hilltop estate at San Simeon, CA.
It's a state park now...'Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument'...better known as 'Hearst Castle'.

One of 3 guest 'cottages' that hosted celebrities & heads-of-state
Antique carved wooden column and painted plaster ceiling in one of the 'cottages'.
Ceiling was designed by Hearst's architect, Julia Morgan, and cast on-site
Portions of the upper part are from an ancient Roman temple
3500-year old Egyptian statues in front of 'Casa Grande'
Light fixture in Hearst's private theater
100-year old Italian vermouth still in the wine cellar
Indoor pool, with tennis courts on the roof

What do they do with horse thieves these days?

This is Chip. He's a horse. He's a thief.

He shares a pasture with the horse my wife is using for her lessons. As she was retrieving her horse the other day, Chip came up to her and innocently nuzzled her. She didn't realize it right away, but he picked her pocket of a baggie of horse treats. She noticed as he was shaking the bag in his mouth, trying to get it open. She eventually got the bag away from him, she was afraid he was going to eat the plastic bag. But not before he ate most of the treats. He looks so innocent.

Last horse.

My Sister wanted our pony, great little thing who won the Maryland Pony Breeders Cup over a decade ago, to use as a cart horse and lead line show pony for friends.

Better place.

So, the horse in the orange legging is a boarder, the horse behind her our last horse.

Fingers crossed.

This level was either my Father's or my Great Grandfather's, the tool box is one my Great Grandfather built, I'm soaking the hinges so I can open it without damaging it.

With the Anniversary tomorrow, I figured these are appropriate. They are truly the Greatest Generation.
