Worldly news

I read that on June 10, Japan Auto manufacturers agreed to abolish the 280 HP agreement. From now on, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, etc. can manufacture cars 280+hp from their factory.

Anybody have a take on how this could affect the rest of the world?

Who was the agreement with? Hate to say it, but Asian tech being what it is, some serious cars could be in the offing...the sub 4 second variety....

I think they had a gentlemen's agreement like BMW and Mercedes had on 155mph speed limit

Should be interesting. The WRX and EVO claimed more than 280 hp though so I guess they didn't play along

That's Subaru and Mitsubishi. I can't even find the link anymore so I don't know for sure if they were a part of the agreement.

I read over a year ago that the defuncked NSX mid-engine....FWD electric hybrid was designed to beat the HP ceiling. Now it seems clear why they pulled the plug on that project.
