LaForza?
So Im driving down Santa Moinica Boulevard yesterday and I see this SUV that looks kinda like a Range Rover but it says LaForza on the back... Anyone know what this thing is?
|
Early 90's take on a European luxo-SUV. Pretty pricey at the time. I believe it was Italian made. They turn up on ebay every once in awhile pretty cheap, like under $10k.

Never heard of it. An owner rebadge?
I was walking thru my work parking lot the other day and saw a Caddy SUV with "CHRIST" badging where the "ESCALADE" badges used to be. Same font and everything - had to do a double-take. |
Dave is right. I think they used Ford drivetrain and you could buy them at Lincoln-Mercury dealers--very slow sellers--Italian design(I think Italy's army uses a version).
Anyways--there were plenty left over--and I think last year or so, they were once again resurected. |
LaForza SUVs were really ahead of their time, Ford 5.0 engine (pirated from the Mustang GT) and special AirHeart 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS. Full leather interior, I can't remember the coachbuilder but the uni-body was Italian built. Ex-girlfriend's daddy had a white one.

Unless I'm mistaken there was an assembly plant for those things here in Escondido, probably made to order. Always used to see a few copies parked out front. They moved to a new place down the road but then got rooted out by TAG motorsports.
Oops quick google got this: LaForza Up close they don't look all that great. |
Looks like they stole the body style from the Ford Explorer.

Test drove one on these when they first came out. They were being marketed through Ford Dealers. Pretty fast, but fit-and-finish was just awful. The car made more noise than a buckboard. Even the salesman was embarassed.

Yeah, the fit and finish always seemed really horrible.
I remember seeing them new, and the panels looked really wavy. Factory pre-dented! And the panel fit was incredibly bad. Overall, it looked like a kit-car SUV to me. Complete with the Ford drivetrain! They seem to be hard to give away these days, from ads that I've seen trying to unload them. |
La Forza Crappioni!
