Are the Republicans in a Win/Win situation?

Heck, we even have a republican (nominally so..) mayor here in the People's Republic of NYC.. It looks to me the Republicans are in a win/win situation.

If Bush wins, that is sure to take the wind out of the sails of his most hateful critics. (Haven't we all had enough of MoveOn.org forwarded e-mails??)

And if he loses? Kerry looks to be nothing but a Parliamentarian, no real agenda beyond winning this thing. His voting record in the Senate has been extremely liberal, but so is Massachusetts..

Beyond the national media's obsession with the Presidency - the real story to me is the increasing numbers of Republican Governors, State Houses, Senate and House seats..

With a bullet-proof majority in Congress, and fresh ideas bubbling up from the state level (like school testing and welfare reform before them) the G.O.P. may be on a roll???

What do yous guys think?

Sounds like it might be time for another civil war.

JM, if you succeeded in seceding, who would fund your government?

jm951 07-23-2004 10:36 AM

I never said anything about seceeding, Thom brought up the possibility, and since it probably wouldn't be along historical lines, let the imagination run!

Ok Cramer-
Who's gonna feed NYC and LA, ain't much farm land left there, nor timber, or mines.

As long as we have Arnold on our side, we cannot lose...

But all kidding aside - even "blue" states like New York and Californina who are sure to vote for Kerry have republican governors. With this obsession with Bush, I think the media, academia and most lefties are not looking at the shift on the state level..

My own unlearned prediction? As the Democrats implode - the remnants will turn even more to the left and GREEN. My $0.01

The leftward movement is not your imagination. The party (not it's members) have been moving left at a fairly good clip for a couple decades atleast. The whole thing is weird to me but hey, more power to em.

Do we get a Republican v Democrat revolutionary war if W wins? The Libs take up arms against the government who faked the election? That would be entertaining.

Dan

Now that would be interesting and a Darwinian learning experince for the Ds since many libs don't know which end of the gun is the dangerous one!!

What in the world are you talking about?...The media and John Kerry say he is a moderate...Dude, the fact that he is the most liberal Senator in the Senate and willingly consorts with communists, does not mean he is left-wing...This idea that Kerry is a liberal, however true, is more politics of personal destruction funded by Richard Mellon Scaiffe and the Moonies.

You're right, I apologize. Kery is a Mcain moderate. What WAS I thinking?
