OMG! Dimebag Darrel Dead!

Not that I was a big Pantera fan, but I knew the guy from Guitar world articles and all. I'm sure some of you know his work better than I.. Weird...

tragic..........a good friend of mine was there, i was asked if i wanted to go but i passed cause i was never really into pantera or the like.
this is just f'd up..........

Oh Haha 12-09-2004 05:59 AM

As a former drummer in a band, that is one scary f'ed up scene.
WTF? It's not bad enough you deal with drunk morons?
Damage Plan is a great "new" band. They were supposed to play here in Flint tonight, too.

Just heard on the news that there are rumors that it was "drug deal related". I for one would be shocked:rolleyes:

They had a couple winesses hinting that direction.

RickM 12-09-2004 07:30 AM

*****, just read about this....freakin horrible. Pantera fan here.

juanbenae 12-09-2004 08:21 AM

drug related, a guy named "dimebag"? i doubt it..... thats so right of you yank.

i read this morning it was like 24 years to the day that hinkley did lennon. the cop that shot the perp must have been a dam good shot to take it in a crowded club, make the shot while the gunman was wrastling with a bouncer.

a moment of slience for dimebag..........

This is sad. I, myself have been a Pantera fan since Cowboys from Hell was released. Also had the joy of working with Darrell, and the other members on numberious times when they came to our building to play. He was a great guy to bull**** with and hang out with. My heart goes out to Vinnie, and the rest of the family, and crew that were with them last night.

Terrible, terrible news. There goes a legend. God speed to Vinnie, Darrell, and family.

very very tragic

Victor 12-09-2004 07:33 PM

That's wrong. Poor buggers.

Jared at Pelican Parts 12-09-2004 10:20 PM

that's a damn shame. Dimebag was one HELL of a guitarist...

But it doesnt surprise me.. Pantera shows were notoriously violent.. I got two cracked ribs in the pit when I saw them. Take a whole bunch of big, angry violent metalheads whacked out on speed, and put them in a room with a band that plays as fast and as heavy as Pantera? Is it any surprise something like this would happen?

Throwin a big metal sign for Dime....

Hats off to the cop who ended this situation. That guy did a helluva job.

This wasn't the typical Pantera fan. Pantera packed auditoriums with thousands of metal heads for years without something like this happening. The guy who did this was a ****ing whacko. Darrel was a great guitarist, this sucks.

RickM 12-10-2004 11:24 AM

The guy apparently obsessed over Pantera for many years. He claimed, to former friends, that Pantera stole his identity and songs that he wrote. He also scared people at a tattoo parlor by staring at them and engaging in pointless conversations related to Metal Music. At 6'3" he was able to bully his way to Dimebag and pump 5 shots into his head at point blank range. Must have been a shocking site.

All day Thursday, fans left flowers and containers of beer by a boulder at the parking lot entrance, including a six-pack of Heineken with a marijuana bud tucked into the cardboard case.
Crazy story, life is weird.
