California DMV Rant
I just received a notice from DMV that I am delinqient in my paying the registration on one of my cars in California.
It is addressed to me, I do own the car, BUT THE THING HAS MY TEXAS MAILING ADDRESS ON IT! It's not forwarded. no. This is addressed right to my address in Texas. They want me to fill out a form and show proof that I've registered the car in another state or they are threatening to GARNISH WAGES, send Debt Collectors, etc. And, or course, THEY HAVE THE FREAKING DAY OFF TODAY!!! Arrrrgggghhhh!        |
So they sent it to your TX mailing address but you didn't get the original renewal ?? Go to a AAA office for quick renewal or change of registration. The DMV also has online credit card renewal to save yourself some time and you can mail in any smog docs if you need to. Do you still have property in CA so you can keep the car registered here or do you want it registered in CA?

Something stinks about this... it really doesn't sound legit. Maybe someone is playing a joke on you. I didn't think the CA DMV was sophisticated enough to garnish wages or send to debt collection. I think they just let the cops bust you when you're driving it around.

Ya didn't think you were going to escape that easy did ya?:D

84: I have moved to Texas. Cars are now registered here.
I don't care about Wage garnishment. But putting a collection agency on me is bad. Could affect credit, if they haven't already dinged me. Yep, no Escape for me. I haven't had a Ford for a while. |
