On a lighter note... BSG

Anyone else enjoy Battlestar Galactica? I'm almost embarrased, but I LOVE this show!

Best show I've seen in a LONG time, and the only show that I consistently look forward to. They do a great job of portraying a civilization that's very similar to but different from ours. I like that it's an adult show, too. It's not for kids.

Same here. Probably why I stated the post... looking forward to tonight. What an exciting life I lead! :)

At the risk of more embarrasment... Do you have a take on whether #6 (the hot blond cylon) is in the doctor's imagination, artificially implanted in his brain, something else???

I also enjoy it, have it Season Passed on Tivo.

Although I do miss the old theme song, smile.

Hell I didn't even know they had done a remake of the old series. Guess is it on the Sci-Fi channel?

Yup. Comes on tonight (Friday)... 10 eastern I believe??? I can highly recommend!

Hard to tell if #6 is implanted of just a product of psychosis. I really don't know. That's what's so cool about the show - it's able to walk that fine line that keeps you guessing. Either explanation is plausable.

The whole tie-in with religion is getting interesting. I'm starting to think that the Cylons see themselves as half of the Adam and Eve equation. Maybe Caprica Boomer is pregnant, and they want to start a new mixed race?

Interesting stuff. Dealing with genocide and religion in this context could have been so badly bungled, and yet it just works.

I love the show too. Funny thing is, so does my wife. She'll stop watching Lifetime just to catch BSG.

Anyone have a guess as to who the next cylon reveal will be?

911boost 03-25-2005 12:12 PM

So when does Baltar move over to a Cylon Mothership? Or do you think this series is following a completely differrent path, and he will always be on the Galatica?

When was the original show out? I remember watching it, but all I remember is the cylons and the ships. Maybe cause I was too young, or had other interest???

Baltar was with the cylons? I had no idea...

Yeah remember, he was played by that bald guy, and the Cylon with dome shaped head and lights woudl always be around him....

Moneyguy1 03-25-2005 06:07 PM

There is a basic flaw however...They are having trouble telling the humanoid Cylons from real people.

In such an advanced technology, they must have overlooked the x-ray machine.

I was OK with it up to then.

My favorite is still Stargate SG1...Love the references to "The Wizard of Oz" not to mention that the show "explains" a lot of the so-called "mysteries" of ancient civilizations.

I guess Tigh's wife (Ellen?) would be too obvious.... I think there's something to that 40 year gap where the Cyons were not heard from. It's not clear when they developed the "human" models, but if it was, say, 35 years ago, they had plenty of time to plant Cylons in high places. Maybe even President Roslyn is one, and the Cylon attack on Caprica was designed to get rid of everyone higher up in the line of succession and make her the Pres.

Moneyguy, the new Cylons are supposedly identical right down to the cellular level, making xray tests (and a bunch of biological tests) inconclusive. Though it's never explained why/how they seem to have superhuman strength.

Okay, now I'm starting to sound like one of those guys you'd see at a Star Trek convention wearing Spock ears. Have a good night everyone.

I know... That's why I was hesitant to start the post in the first place. :)

I figure some of the cylons will have to be shockers. Maybe Starbuck??? My wife & I have discussed Roslyn as a possible contender.

Moneyguy- My wife LOVES SG1, so I end up watching it too. We also watch SG Atlantis, which I enjoy as well...

BSiple- I kind of almost remember something about dome head & lights...

Off to the TiVo now to watch!!! :D

Tivo is great to have. I'm away from home tonight but I'm sure that Tivo will have taped BSG for me.

Great show. So was the original show for the time. An interesting thing about the original show is that, at that time, it was by far the most expensive tv show ever produced. The thing cost more per episode than anything before or after for a while. Heck, they even had John Williams do the score. It took Miami Vice to beat those costs. The modelling on the show was a class act. In fact they used the same model designers that Lucas used in Star Wars. All Art Center graduates trained in auto design I believe. That's why those Vipers and Cylon ships looked pretty cool. The beauty of the new show is that it is intended for an adult audience and nothing less.

Great Part 1 of the Season Finale.

Any thoughts?
