I'm new... help with postings?

Hello all;

Brand new to this bulletin board, finally registered after about a month's browsing.

One question, after spending countless hours drooling over the classifieds, I still haven't figured out what "bump" means!

Can someone clarify?:confused:

Bumping the post back to the top of the thread - when you reply it shifts it back to the top.

'Got a hunch you'll get some value out of this, "porschefool."

Thanks, still learnin'. Not sure about the wikipedia though!

Don,

Glad to see someone with such a vast amount helping a "tenderfoot" ...

Did someone do that with you and call you names? Is this why you call someone asking for help a "porschefool?"

With "BBS manners" like this I sure hope that you do not need help yourself anytime soon!

TERSMC,

The only stupid question is the one not asked. I hope that your time on the board is a lot better than the way this one worked out. Most people remember that they started out not knowing a lot on most things and are not dicks about it.

Good luck and come back often! Also, before making a post asking for help on a mechanical issue, use the "search" button on the top of the page. Usually most issues have been covered in the past, but if not then post a new one and we all can learn together!

JoeA;

Thanks for the tip, will be sure to use search soon. BTW, I don't think Don meant anything bad, he just took the time to read bio on my profile, which says I'm a "porschefool"... no harm done!

LOVE this BBS, will be here a long, long time....Cheers

Don,

Having a great week! I was in Bermuda on a trip the last 6 days and now home for a week straight. Working on the 911 and having fun.

You do as you wish but calling anyone a fool is just not done in my book (and many others) unless you know them very well or want to "dance" ...

Hope your weekend is as much fun!

Joe A

tersmc,
.
The Wikipedia link is good for those of us who wish to find out about internet/forum/group terms & lingo, etc.
You can type in a word into the box in the left column for a quick search. I checked "bump" prior to posting that link.
.
Re: referring to you as 'porschefool'... It's a habit from my years over on the Pelican Parts BMW R1100S motorcycle tech forum. We do that there...check a new fellow's profile 'n often will address him as per what he chooses to enter.
You're right, I meant no harm, no disrespect.
.
Let's all have a good/safe weekend, eh? Life's too short!

You got plugged in and reacted.
You didn't know the details.
After the details were explained to you, you're still plugged in.

Joeaksa 04-01-2005 07:37 AM

Plugged in or not, calling someone a fool that you do not know can be hazardous to your front teeth where I live!

I know the details now and still feel the same way...

JoeA
