coffee?
am i turning into a coffee natzi? i stoped as i usally do on my way to work and grab a cup of joe at the local roastery, and i have now tries a cup and work and its junk!! , i seem to have spoiled my self lately by drinking the good stuff, which is bad cause now im spending like 10 bucks a day to get good coffee! anyone else like this? or am i the only caffine junky here?

Didn't have to deal with that. I grew up in New Orleans where unless you're in a chain place from out of town, the coffee will be good.
|
Nope, not the only one. I'm drinking my latte, made from beans that I roasted on Saturday afternoon. Just be careful, my friend -- you thought Porsches were a slippery slope! First it's "Ew, the local bakery makes rotten drip coffee," and the next thing you know you've googled for "espresso" and it's left a $2000 hole in your wallet.

It's hard to get a bad cup of Jo in Seattle. But then my tastes are pretty simple. The nastiest, edgiest Fogcutter or French Roast I can find, with sugar and whitener. I keep the whitener in my car just in case.

"nazi" ? forget that... you are becoming a coffee aficionado! bad coffee makes my stomach hurt.
|
My brother in law ownes a coffee/expresso house. I've had it all...rare, popular, award winning, etc. etc... That being said, my current favorite (by a pretty broad margin) is McDonalds new premium roast:) I'm not kidding, it's fantastic! I have a large cup every morning.
Flame on:) |
No doubt Randy. N.O. was drinking high end coffee when Seattle was trying to make it out of beaver dung. Luzianne, CDM, French Market, Community, and others are top notch. Of course the flavored & frothy afficianodos might not agree.

I was never a big coffee connoisseur, but I did enjoy a good cup here and there and a normal morning cup to wake me up. Then I quit, I no longer drink coffee, and suprize, cronic heartburn is gone! Keep that in mind if you guys suffer acid reflux.
|
Right now I'm enjoying a cup of Royal Kona...shipped from Hawaii by Jeff....yummy! Thanks Jeff! :D

Klauke, leave out the cream & the heartburn should be under control.

I hired a guy from Seattle who was a self proclaimed coffee aficionado. He brought in the whole Starbucks coffeee deal and went on to tell us that we don't know good coffeee in Florida.
I have to say that was some of the worst coffeee I had ever had. It was so bitter I could not drink it. I am by no stretch a coffeee expert. I prefer an ice cold Red Bull over coffeee any day. But in the few weeks its actually cold here in Fla. I will drink a cup of coffeee. I am not sure if everyone pretends that Seattle Coffee is better even though its that bitter or if they actually do like bitter coffeee. I prefer it to be a little smoother and mellow. |
No Jim, you're exactly right -- espresso shouldn't be bitter. Drip coffee should be bitter. Percolated coffee should be bitter. Turkish coffee, cowboy coffee, burnt coffee, and iced coffee should be bitter. Espresso, no matter how loudly praised by it's creator as perfect, should not be bitter.
Now, if you really want good espresso, Seattle isn't even the place for it -- no matter how loudly we often brag about how good our espresso is out here. If you really want good espresso, find yourself a little hole in the wall espresso shop in Northern Italy. The guy behind the counter needs to be about 90 years old, and he's been making espresso since he was 8 years old, when his Pa taught him how to operate the lever-op'd espresso machine in the family shop. If that espresso is bitter, he'll eat his hat. Where's Isabo, isn't she Italian an' stuff? Seems like she often weighs in on these discussions. |
I take nothing less than three shots of espresso in any coffee drink. I've been known to go up to five. Regular coffee is something to just nurse on when talking with people or having nothing else to do. It beats booze, but of course, instead of being alcoholic, I now have the pulse rate of an Uzi.

Torrefazione Settebello. Never, ever bitter. Rich, dark and smooth.

I work for a vending company and I drink our coffee daily(lots).
I must be used to it now 'cause I can't stand Starbucks (too expensive). I like a bold cup , black, no fillers. I don't care for McDonald's new product but then again I don't like their other food , either. 7 11 is about the best take out I have found in my area. We hae a couple of fresh brewed coffee vending machines that are very good. Rich, strong, flavor no aftertaste. |

If the 30 year old guy is working, take a pass. The 50 year old guy makes some really good stuff. But the old guy, the one who works only a few hours each day.... Ah, its heaven! Come out to Brooklyn and we will find you the best cappacino and espresso outside of Italy. |
i have a latte every afternoon , the coffee is from italy imported stuff, it better be good at 5 bucks a cup!
