Morini progress pics #2

I haven't had much time to devote to this lately, but I did pull all the tins/headlight/guages, found a plce to have the seta recovered and the tank dipped, ordered new fuel/brake lines, and am in the process of pulling the rear wheel to replace the tire/machine the rotor and get all brakes funtioning.

Cool project. Are decals still available? If not you can take a digital pic or scan and reprint on decal paper.

(Hint: To remove stamps or decals soak in warm slat water for about 2-4 minutes. Item should slide off of surface)

Rick,

Thanks. There aren't any decals on the bike--the stripes are hand-painted, and the "500" and "Morini" are plastic badges. I am not painting the frame, as it doesn't need it.

Good deal....I thought you might want to replicate the sticker/decal on the fork and "Made in Italy" on the frame.

I'm STILL jealous...

I've never heard of this bike before but I sure do enjoy seeing you restore it. Were there different configurations? Models w/ different motors?

BlueSkyJaunte 05-25-2005 03:05 PM

This appears to be the 500. My "dream" bike is a 3 1/2 Sport. 350cc 2-stroke. I don't know if the 500 is 2- or 4-stroke.

The Moto Morinis that I've seen are all 500cc-and-below V-twins.

Thanks everyone--it is a fun project.

As blue mentioned there was a 500 and a 3-1/2 available in the States. V-twins.
I had never heard of Moto Morini either untill a week before I bought the bike. I saw it parked alongside the road in this little farmtown--I initially thought it was a BMW, and turned around to check it out--did some research and struck a deal the following week.
The little I know of the marque, is that they are fairly popular in Europe. Morini held some racing titles in various formats--they made road bikes, and off-road/enduro bikes(Kangaru) The 3-1/2 and 500 were avaialble in the states untill about 82. There was a prototype 500 Turbo, which I don't think ever saw production. In the early 90's the compnay was sold to Ducatti. Of course, my dates may be off--but that is what I know to date. Sourcing parts is a bit tricky, and I still don't even know if it will run--but it is fun nonetheless.:)
