Get ready for electronic portals known as backscatters, expected to be tested at a handful of airports this year, that use X-ray imaging technology to allow a screener to scan a body. And yes, the body image is detailed. Let's not be coy here, ladies and gentlemen:

Seriously, though, how long before screeners are taking pics with their cell phones and spreading them all over the internets. I don't think being scanned will prevent me from flying, but there's no way I'd let my girlfriend. I don't want some random highschool dropout scumbag oogling her.

They just did a whole segment on NPR about this yesterday. They are working on software to just show solid object clearly and no specific body features. The will not release the machines until they have this perfected.

Similar technology has been in the public domain for years, you just didn't know it. Worried about your g/f and pervs? Then you better keep her away from anyone with a high-end camcorder.

Exactly - I imagine it would be like being a gynecologist. There are good days, and BAD days. Some of the bad days can really ruin it for the few good days.
