Not for me, but looking to help the buyer get educated on it. Has some //M upgrades and other stuff.

Thanks, that's the range I think he wants, though I'm not posative. Some of the mods like the M# tranny make we wonder though, why? Is the stocker that bad? Or is the M3 tranny that good? Seems like a strange place to drop dollars.

Sold my 95, clean 325i for $9500 with 125Kmiles in San Jose, where prices are somewhat higher than I exect you get in Indiana.
This guy probably has $15-20K in it and be lucky to sell for$8K.

So if this guy would take say $7,500 for it.....would you consider it a solid buy?

I'd say 7K tops. The mods are all cosmetic, it's got some miles on it, and there are still a few issues that need to be dealt with.
All show and no go, IMHO. Jim http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=181570491&dealer_id=56235390&car_year=1994&make=BMW&distance=10&lang=en&max_price=&model=325IS&end_year=1998&min_price=&certified=&address=92647&search_type=used&advanced=&start_year=1988&isp=y&cardist=0 I know it's not local to you, but this car is probably the nicest of it's vintage that I've seen. In fact, we (his kids ) give the owner TONS of crap for how nice he keeps his cars.

Excellent points and along the lines I told the buyer. I am not sure (after all this work) that I would have 100% faith in the car unless I knew it was done right. The mention of lit shift knobs and stereo equip conjurs up images of some punk with a vice grips and his dads old tool set. But who knows.

There are lots of non-tampered BMW 325is out there. I would pass. There are just too many little things to worry about with this. Tell him to buy a clean well maintained non-accident, non-repainted car fom anywhere within a two day drive and fly there, buy it and drive back.

May be too late, he really likes the car and made an offer pending inspection $7,500. My Uncle is a BMW nut so he's gonna check it out for him. The seller added a bunch of pics toward the bottom of the page, it does look pretty well cared for. But I do appreciate the help and comments

I, for one, like to buy another persons project. Having sold the 3.6 Black Bird I know you can never get out what you put in. If you friend intends to do any of the mods this guy has done have him calculate those costs into the cost of a non-tampered bimmer.
Sounds like a nice honest write up. As for value, I have no idea. i'm not into bimmers.

I regularly see decent high-mile (120-150K) real M3s around here in SoCal in the 10-13K range for comparison.
