Morini progress pics#3

The pics this time around aren't too interesting. I have pulled the rear wheel/rotor--had the rear rotor machined(had some minor grooves)--Napa's machine shop did a great job for 15.00 I am pulling the tank dent Friday. I received my order of new fuel/vent line(it is in the bag in the one pic) to replace all the brittle lines. The new fuel line is for weedwakcers/small engines--perfect replacement. The spots on the frame in the pics are dirt, not rust and I am still amazed at the condition--the photo showing the center of the rear wheel is exactly how it was pulled--that is the factory grease on the hub. I pulled apart all the calipers and cleaned them out--all the seals are like brand-new and re-assembled them. I cleaned the master cylinder and the (2) brake fluid reservoirs and rubber brake lines. The seat is getting recovered/foamed(70.00--a good deal) and the headlight bucket is being re-shaped(it was bent in the crash). I won an auction for OEM turn signal lenses on E-bay(10.00). Next is to get the tank dipped/coated, new tires, paint what needs painting and then re-assemble. Hopefully I will have it back on the road in a month.

Looks like your really starting to have at it. The hard part looks to be trying to make the old corroded looking parts look new again via blasting and/or replating. Looks like an interesting project. I doubt many folks will have seen one of these before on the road.

Thanks Tim,

Initially I was going to replace every corroded fastener/polish the sprockets, etc. etc., but have since decided to keep it in mostly "original" condition--sort of a survivor. I don't think there are many 25 year-old 2,600 mile bikes around which are still wearing all their original parts. When finished, the only non-original items will be the re-covered seat, new tires, new battery, grips, front brake lever(bent), fuel/vent lines, and the repainted tank. Should be fun (if it runs!):)
