Thule Rack Lock Cylinder...how to remove???
Finally updated rack system and want to switch the lock cores from old to new feet....how in the love of GOD do they come out? Website says I need a "removal" key but I don't remember having one of those to begin with? Truth be told I'm actually shocked that I even still have the keys to the locks. Anyone have any ideas? If there is a skeleton key or the like can I borrow someone's and I'll ship it right back?

It is a removal key. It acme with the set when you added locks.
What system and model locks/feet are they? |
The new feet are actually used feet. They are 415s to go on my allroad (perfect fit to the factory rack I must say). The cores are in an old set of knobs on my raingutter mount attaching feet that I simply attached to the factory rack of prior wagon. I got sick of the added height and instability. The cores look like a perfect fit. Any ideas?

Joe--
stevepaa is correct - you need a removal key. Check the yellow pages for a Thule dealer and ask them. The locks will have to be in the UNLOCKED position in order for the removal key to work (otherwise, anyone with a removal key could walk around ripping off racks). With the lock unlocked, you insert the removal key and turn -- the entire core will then come out of the foot. |
Thanks fellas. Dealer w/in 5 miles of my house said they will let me use key.
