Did a search but couldn't find...

Thinking of getting an Outback. There was a thread here a month or two ago about problems with the engines on some years; what was the problem and which years. (head gaskets?)

Probably looking for a 95-98, 2.5L, manual tranny. Maybe 99-00.

I have had very few problems with my wifes 98 Legacy GT with the 2.5 engine. I have heard about the head gasket problem. Her car has 95,000 miles.

Legacy Outback? Or Impreza?

There were transfer case problems with the <'98 Legacies.

An ex GF had one- $3500 to put it right.
