Mailing to an FPO - is there an inexpensive way?
Went to UPS to mail a 4 lb box to an FPO address.
Guy behind the counter says "$55.00." He says it's so expensive because it's going to an fpo. That sounded odd to me - if a 4 lb box (feels like almost nothing) costs $55.00 to ship to an fpo, I'd imagine our military members get very few things mailed to them! Is there a less expensive way? What should it cost? |
US mail.
I didn't think UPS would ship to FPO addresses. Tom |
You need to use the regular postal service to mail to AP and FPO address. That way you only pay to the port (Seattle and NY)

Something is not right here. Shipping to a APO/FPO is just like sending anything to either NYC or LA, then the military picks it up and carries it the rest of the way on their birds.

Yep, listen to Tom and Joe. I just shipped a fairly large box to my bro in Okinawa (Marines), and it was around $12.

I just received two cases of Folgers (6 big plastic jugs per) for <$16 each box through USPS and APO.
On the other hand, I shipped home one CD-RW with pix to Mom and FEDEX raped me for $38! |
