Walter Reed protests?
Anti-war demonstrators have been protesting outside Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. since March. Walter Reed houses hundreds of seriously wounded Iraq war veterans, including those with multiple amputations, etc. The protester's signs read: "Maimed for Lies" and "Enlist here and die for Halliburton," etc. Do you agree that these bedwetters are way out of line protesting soldiers who are trying to recover both physically and mentally or do you think that they are totally justified in their protests..regardless of the effect on the injured soldiers...Is this another example of the famed liberal alibi "I support the troops, but not the war?"

Time and place for everything; this is the wrong place IMO.

I did some searching. Doesn't look like they're protesting against the wounded, but against the war (duh) and to draw attention to the human dumping dumping ground that is Walter Reed. Of course that's irrelevant, since anyone who raises so much as a whiper against GWB is a traitor.
Click here to get back at those nasty protesters.

Thom, I don't think the point is to beat up on protesters in general, I think that these specific protesters are being rude. I mean, they're waving signs out in front of a hospital, for crying out loud. Those guys were following orders, and now they're paying the price for the war. They had nothing to do with the decision to go in, and they have nothign to do with the decision to get out. I can't complain about protests in front of the White House, but in front of a hospital? Come on, have some decency.

I would say that it is inappropriate for them to be protesting outside the hospital like that. What do they hope to accomplish? Any reasonably conscience person would be offended right or left.

I don't think Walter Reed is an appropriate place for these protests.
However, do note that the Administration and its supporters are willing to use war casualties to make their point as well. For example, President Bush's recent speech: We have lost 1,864 members of our armed forces in Operation Iraqi Freedom and 223 in Operation Enduring Freedom . . . Each of these men and women left grieving families and loved ones back home . . . We owe them something. We will finish the task that they gave their lives for." Here Bush is saying "if you don't support me and my conduct of the war, you are unpatriotic and dishonor the war dead". I don't find that a very appealing act either.

I agree that they should not be protesting there out of sensitivity to the wounded soldiers and their families who might not share (the protesters') views. I personally would put those people's feelings above other considerations, but some protesters don't see this.
Still, to say that they are "protesting soldiers" is inaccurate, in fact it shows extreme bias and willful lying on your part to get your point across. But that's nothing new.

Not sure why Code Pink's motives are being questioned. Yes, they protest the war at other locations, but at VA hospitals, they are protesting the administrations cuts in medical funding to veterans.
http://www.codepink4peace.org/article.php?id=476 I think anyone who actually 'supports the troops' should be concerned that funding per veteran is dropping fast under this administration.

That is the problem with you liberals...you will to find a way to defend any action that supports your politics...regardless of how sick it is. This ranks right up with defending the terrorists as "freedom fighters." Democrats will never be a viable party until they begin to face, and tell the truth.
