Katrina Victims

To all:
I have lived long enough to see some memorably bad things happen to my fellow humans before, many at close range. Although I don't watch TV, I have seen and read enough on the internet to realize that the people in NO and the surrounding areas are totally screwed, almost beyond comprehension.

I don't really consider myself affluent, but I've got two Porsches, and every one of you has one also. The folks down there have nothing, will have to live like refugees for at least months, have nothing to go back to, provided they survive this. Put off the new brake rotors or the steering wheel upgrade for a bit, and join me in trying to help out our fellow man during this hellish crisis. Send some cash to the Red Cross or other relief organization, for starters.

A couple of million people will silently thank you.

Generally, I do not contribute to such organizations. I sometimes feel the money is mis-directed. I really dislike these organizations and prefer to donate on a more personel level.

That said, I just donated $200 to them and I am hoping that it makes a difference. I have set aside more money to donate but will hold on to the rest for a better oportunity to help.

Lets all give them the benefit of doubt and contribute what we can to help these people.

Wife and I just made a donation as well.

The whole thing is just horrible.

God bless them.

I talked to my wife tonight and we made a donation to the Red Cross for "Hurricane 2005 Relief". We'll do the new TV next year - its just a stupid damn toy anyway, and millions of Americans have lost everything.

Jim, I normally concur, but like you, not this time around. Thanks for the link....

I am also going to church tonight. (something I have not done in a while) to find out what kind of relief they are organizing and what I can do/donate to help.

I suggest many of you seek out local efforts and contribute that way. It will be money well spent. Much better spant than the Red Cross and its overpaid CEO's.
