Im not really sure why nobody ever cries about how politically connected Steve Bectel is. They get there fair share of government money and they can do large scale work like this. Shaw is getting there foot in the door on some of this stuff as well.
You guys that cry about Halliburton getting all of these huge contracts dont actually think they do the work do you? Does anyone have stats on how much work they sub out? Ive worked on more than one job where KBR was a general contractor who did absolutely nothing but manage smaller contracts with specialized subs. Of course they make a fee, but so does everyone else who gets out there and gets a piece of the work. All of the subcontracts on taxpayer funded jobs are awarded to the lowest bidder in a public bid format on an equal oppurtunity basis. The only time Ive ever seen KBR craft labor come in and do work was on a pipe job that was so far behind schedule that the piping sub contractor was run off from the site. KBR brought a crew of fitters that did more work on a daily basis than the previous contractor was doing in a week until they were back on schedule. |

I saw on the news last night that the administration is sending Dick Cheney down to the disaster area. Like those people haven't suffered enough, now they are pulling Uncle Dick the gimp out of his hole to go down there w/ a pen and a legal pad to start writing up the damage estimate/Halliburton bill.
The balls on these crooks. |

Anyone remember all the Halliburton contracts during Slick Willie's administration?

Did I mention Robert Rubin, upon his departure from Clinton's crime family, got a cushy job as chairman of the executive committee of the board of directors of Citigroup (Enron's primary creditor)? Nothing to see here...moveon please!!! Nice perq having the 5th column in your back pocket. Run months of images and information tailored to finger Bush with Enron's failings, and then when the truth starts bubbling, change the subject and ignore their discriminatory reports and intentional deceptions. |
If I may ask, what's the connection with Rubin?
Bush and Enron's Ken Lay (as wll as Cheney) are buddies anyway. No need for any outside interference. Halliburton has been a govt. contractor for a long time. However, Cheney's continued links w/Halliburton/KBR is the troublesome part. Halliburton's wartime business model that maximizes profits at the expense of each US taxpayer are troublesome as well. Can anyone interpret my comments as "not supporting the troops" in the above? Sherwood |
To answer your first question...Enron built its house of cards with the help of the Clinton administration, and interestingly Rubin got a cushy job at Citigroup, then made calls to Bush to bail Enron out...quid pro quo...The house of cards came tumbling down as part of Bush's Clinton recession inheritance and guess what?...NO quid pro quo by Bush (some friend Bush was).
Cheney divested himself of Halliburton before he was elected...which is in no way defense against the false premise that Halliburton, its stockholders and its employees are corrupt...Halliburton is a strawman manufactured by the DNC liars. Ted Kennedy is a murderer, Robert Byrd is a KKK member, Bill Clinton failed America regarding terrorism, Hillary Clinton uses New York as her whore, John Kerry committed treason by collaborating with the North Vietnamese in Paris...and you trust these people, their collaborative media friends, and the lies they tell? |
