Do you have a 'Plan B?'

I didn't think I needed one.

I have always been good at 'winging it'. But I have gotten older and this last episode has just about taken the wind out of my sails.

I wish I had a 'Plan B' now.

Yes, this could be on several fronts. Love, Life, Work, Home.

What's your 'Plan B?'

I have a definite, solid plan b, and I'm thankful for it every day. I absolutely love what I'm doing, and the money is swell, but anyone in the tech world has to have some sort of backup, imho.

I will make slightly less money, and the drive to work will be an hour each morning, but I know it will always be there. I don't enjoy it (radio) as much, but I'm good at it... plus there are some opportunities at this organization later on.

Michael, Have had a plan "B" and "C" for years, just did not think that I needed it this early.

Have actually been thinking of retiring. You and I just went thorough the same thing, more or less, in the last two months.

Am 52 and while not wealthy can pay my bills. I could sell the house, walk away with $300k in cash. Buy a two acre lot 50 miles out of town for $30k, put a $50k manufactured home on it and believe that I could survive on what I have socked away for another 25 years or so.

Problem is that I am not ready to just "survive" and still want to prosper... Thats why I leave in 5 days for a two month overseas gig to sock some more money away.

I just turned a friend onto a one month contract job in Israel. Flying a Challenger 604 and they were hurting. Needed someone in a week or so and was paying far too much money for the month, with all expenses paid. If you are interested you know my email address...

I can always twist wrenches if need be, or restore old fabric birds in my spare time, so who knows...

My plan B? Sudden, unexpected, heart attack. Sometimes I think it's the only way I'll get any rest.

When the wife and I thought we were "expecting" at age 17 (false alarm)we were going to move to Hawaii and sell coconuts on the beach. Suppose that could still work:)

What comes after z? Thats about where I'm at.

bryanthompson 10-19-2005 07:27 AM

plan Z is "get a tatoo with a latin phrase in it"

Plan Gamma is laser surgery to remove said tat :p. If you're only to Z, you still have the whole greek alphabet to go through before you can cash it in.

Was just there. It's pretty expensive; tourists everywhere.

Gotta be cheaper places, but then everyone speaks english. (Was a British colony).
