Hi all,
Could someone post the video clip of the Renault F-1 engine in a dyno room that showed water (or something) being sprayed onto it or into it.
I can't find it anymore and it was really cool.
TIA,
Flank

I think I was the one that posted that, well, at least I was one of the people that posted that. Unfortunately, it looks like it has been removed. For reference, here is the (bad) link:

Here are a few vintage engines.

And not so vintage.

You need some motorcycle engine pics!

Here is the engine from Dasher (1962 BMW R50S) on the stand, shot from the flywheel end.

Here it is finished and mounted in the frame:

Hey there, Dashers flywheel, before drilling that is, looks like it could be a standby for the anchor on the Queen Mary! Jeez those things are heavy and remember them well.

Yeah. BMW seemed to think that everyone would hook up a sidecar, so they always had a HEAVY flywheel.

The swiss cheese flywheel makes shifting MUCH easier. Dasher also has some tranny mods which help out with the dog engagement.

Might you ever come upon a lightened flywheel for a R75/5? Not in any hurry but would not be a bad thing to have!

Thx,

Piece o cake!

Contact Ed Korn. He does lightened flywheels for old airheads including /5's. He's a great guy. Super-easy to deal with.

Dasher's flywheel is an example of his work. I have another one of his flywheels in Donner. Here is his website:

How about some Rotary content?

3 Rotor a.k.a. 20B.

Same 3 Rotor in a 93 RX-7

The girl that built said 20B - Kandi from Pettit Racing.

Non-Turbo (less potent) 20B, what you see in DP cars in the Rolex series. Think Jim Downing in the old days. They run 4 Rotor engines now.

Hmmm... Matchless V-Twin! Love the hairpin valve-springs! 1920s???

Waz356 12-14-2005 01:44 PM

Actually it's mid 1930's. The engine is a 1936 MX4 water cooled.

Bore and stroke? Displacement?

lm6y 12-14-2005 05:40 PM

Even if those guys were Oompa Loompas, that thing is HUGE!

Did PPBBS member "Juan" of 911 Turbo drag racing fame not work on those massive engines?

What happened to him? I wonder if he ever broke the sound barrier yet.

Thanks and had heard of him for his re-thread kits on handlebar mirrors. Did not have his URL so will get ahold of him.
