Sex Offender Map - Who is living near you?
http://www.familywatchdog.us/
Just enter address, state and zip code. Has pictures and wrap sheet if you click on the little green squares on the map. My wife said there is one more guy living in the assisted housing unit down the block from us which should be on the list. However she said this site has more detailed information on the offenses than what she was able to get on her own (from the state site I think). Good site. |
Thank you, no one in my immediate vicinity. Still good to know.

That is a little scary. I have one of these most colorfull members of our society less than 1/2 mile from my house. Need to adjust for windage and elavation............and lets not forget ..........fire for effect!
|
that is scary...

So what does this do for you? I got a guy on the next block for "other offense" without any convictions showing.

"Unfortunately, Oregon does not currently publicize the registered sex offenders living within the state. Consequently, we are unable to provide any information about Oregon's sex offender population.
In discussions with Oregon state officials, we learned that Oregon does plan to provide a web-based registry of its sex offenders. Their planned implementation date is January 1, 2006. We will eagerly await the introduction of Oregon's online sex offender registry. As soon as Oregon data is available, we will provide it to Family Watchdog visitors." |
When my sons were 13 and 9 a new neighbor moved in, a couple guys. I ran the address and yes, one was a sex offender. I printed the info and gave it to others in our little cul-de-sac soon there was one on every door. The guys in that house painted it, landscaped it, and stayed to themselves totally.
The prettiest house in the area. Nice upscale cars and no hassles ever from them. I wished some of my other neighbors were so well behaved….Some of my other neighbors let their yards go, and one I had running battle with after his dogs kept getting loose and harassing older folks walking their dogs in the evenings. I finally bent an alum bat on one of his dogs before they and he got the msg... Not peep from the offender. Sometimes people make a single mistake and pay for it. Sometimes the offenders are really really bad predators. You can’t know the diff, so we have to watch them all all the time. When I finally moved I did relax from having to be alert to any activity in that offenders lot so much. |
2 in the area - One's a former neighbor, (whom I'm glad to see he's locked up -) the other is someone who used to be a friend.
Wish I hadn't looked. rjp |
Thanks George.
Opens your eyes. Although we don't know the specifics in each case, it still makes you be wary. Only two offenses against children and they are five miles or more away from our house. |
Our county has a list of sex offenders, a couple I went to school with, none that live too close.

These bastards are everywhere...
Thanks for the link |
Good to know. Had 2 within 3 miles, none others. Good to keep an eye out for perps like this.

Is it all _child_ sex offenders, or sex offenders in general? I've seen some legal cases that might be of interest. One, a guy molested his retarded step-children, ages 4 and 6. He's registered as a "sex offender." In another, a 19-year old sailor got terribly drunk and had a 17-year old girl (who had lied about her age) in his barracks room. He did a lot less time, but is also registered as a "sex offender." While I can't cite a specific example, I seem to recall a similar story where a just-over-18 guy was caught by the just-under-18 girl's dad, who sent him to prison for stat-rape. ...And when he got out, he married the girl.
So while one is about the most disgusting crop of scum you could hope to find, the other is really just a normal guy who screwed up, no? The guy who's listed as "other offense" may not have been anything serious -- he may be married to the girl he "raped," with several happy children. Just my $.02.... |
djmcmath, very well put argument. The problem is until the criminal justice system has a classification the general public is educated with a sex offender is a sex offender is a sex offender, and for us to be even reasonably safe we have to brand them all scum of the earth.

I believe that in some (most?) states a public urination charge will also get you put on the list. Think about the possibility of a full bladder 'ruining' your life!

I understand some of the offenders are probably 18 year olds getting popped a girlfriends father. But clowns like this have no excuse.
Tommy Roberts State of Registration: FL Convictions:Lewd,Lascivious Child U/16 Home address: 1160 Ne Martin Ave Jensen Beach, FL 34957-6216 Distance 1.17 http://www3.fdle.state.fl.us/sexual_...asp?fin=180818 There is also another one 0.5 miles from my sons old elementary school, said school is at my subdivision entrance. His says Sex offense other though. Also by our house in NC we noticed 2 guys with 2 1st degree rape convictions each. Mybe those were just misunderstangs too. |
Is billwagnon on that list? I heard he got caught talking to a minor with a hatchet and wearing bicycle shorts. ;)
I'm still waiting to see some accurate stats of the number of TRUE child kidnappings/molestations/whatever now vs. when I was a kid. I believe it's all a lot of hype and media overcoverage and that the real numbers haven't changed a lot. I have a son and I'll be damned if I'm going to raise him to be some sort of paranoid freak afraid of everyone walking down the street. |
