Death penalty recommended for Joseph Smith

Even though I am fundamentally opposed to the death penalty I'd buy a lottery ticket if the prize was pulling the switch on this monster.
Joseph Smith
Scroll down the page and cast your vote in the death penalty poll.

Just give him a prison sentence and throw him in w/ the general population. Justice will be served quickly and cheaply, as opposed to decades and $$$$ from now.

Carlie's parents should be able to kick the living fuch out of him until he's just about done THEN throw his a$$ to the general population for a few days THEN execute the SOB.

Oh, I'm sorry, that would violate his civil rights?

Too f'ing bad dirtbag!

In my opinion the most horrendous act ever perpetrated against another human was when that guy in Texas was chained to the rear of a pick up truck and dragged to his death, and even this would not be a sufficiant penalty for this Joseph Smith.

The problem w/ vengeance is that it is a dead-end, spiritually speaking. IMO, of course. You would have to become a monster yourself to exact the revenge that he deserves. Better to just use civilized justice in the world.

Maybe so Dennis but when the victim is an 11 year old it's real hard to walk the higher road. We may never be able to actually do to these monsters what we'd like to do so we appease ourselves with verbal vengence.

O.k.; it took five hours to decide to kill this schmuck? And two were still dissenting? Must not have any kids.

It will take ten to fifteen years to pull this off, if it ever gets done at all. Meanwhile, halfway around the world, it takes less than a week to excecute a man for smuggling drugs. Amazing planet we live on.

Far too civilized for this piece of flotsam but it would get the job done and in a manner he understands.

Right now the numbers are 70/30% saying that the people on the MSNBC site support the death penality.

If it was my daughter he raped and murdered I'd take care of this myself and save the taxpayers alot of money.

Why is it that time and time again that dirt bag pieces of $hit do these things to children and we sit around and waste time and money trying to figure out the best thing to do with them?

Just let a bunch of gun toting vigilanties to take care of the problem.

I think the death penalty is too easy. There are worse things that could happen.

I prefer your first idea of interaction with "general population." We had a guy like this in Australia (no death penalty unfortunately)--one of his goal experiences (which were many and varied) was being catheterised with a piece of barbed wire.

Screw the death penalty, screw throwing him in the general population...

I can handload a .45 cartridge for about $.12. I'll donate it to the state of Florida if I get to pull the trigger.

Unfortunatley it doesn't work so good. In fact 85% of those sentenced to prison in California, return for another term at one time or another.

I'm with Fray

I am all for the death sentence but this lethal injection stuff is far too easy. They just go to sleep and don't wake up. The punishment should fit the crime. I think we should go back to electrocution, and it should be televised on prime time TV. None of this long drawn out appeals process either. Especially for those with evidence against them like in this case. For all the people who say the death penalty is no deterrent, maybe the reality of the penalty shown on TV will deter some from committing these heinous acts. Besides, it is a very big deterrent for the guy who is executed- he will certainly never do it again.

Hmmm.... lets see
A guy on heroin and/or coke rapes and murders a child.
A fitting punishment, in my mind of course:
Castration with rusty scissors, close wound with staples.
Into general population for a few months (they love child rapists I hear). Have him cell-hop each night so he can get to know everyone.
Electrocute him but darn, halfway through, we blew a fuse. Sorry we have to start over again.
Start zapping again, what do you mean we blew another fuse?
Come back tomorrow after we get this figured out.
Repeat as needed.

Did they ever figure out if he killed anyone else?

This USA article is almost a year old.

Quote:
Smith has been arrested at least 13 times in Florida since 1993. He was acquitted of kidnapping in 1998 after allegedly grabbing a 20-year-old woman as she left a pool hall and trying to pull her away.

He does not look like a skinny junkie to me, guy sure looks like trouble, and with his past he sure turned out to be.

Unrecoverable, pulling the switch or lethal injection is too good for his likes.

I enjoy considering the torture these monsters deserve, but I also know that Speeder is exactly correct.

I'm with Matt on this one, but I'm a bad shot..so this could take a few rounds.
not really a bad shot, but I would not make this quick, and yes I could sleep like a baby after-wards.Years ago something like this happened in Germany, knowing the justice system,Mom wasted him in the court room.
She was acquitted due to lapse of sanity for a sec. Nobody wanted to go after a vengeful mom.
