Thanks Jack
Jack, just wanted to thank you for adding (high speed connections only) to your thread. A tip of the hat from a dial-up guy. I wish more folks here would do the same.
You should upgrade to high speed. Once you do you'll never look back. Plus you can read twice the amount of postings in half the time. :D
You know what? Even with dial -up, I clicked on that thread. It took about 10 minutes to load, (Hey! Its storming here and I had nothing else to do), and it was worth it.
Jack, thanks for the pics and commentary. From the highway mishaps I have had, I remember everything seemed to be happening in slow motion and there was a point when I realized I was just along for the (rough) ride. Sorry BB II got scratched. Thanks for showing the rough side too. Les |
Generally speaking, you're either interested in the content or you're not. If you are and you find it's loading too slowly, open another window and let it load in the background while you're doing/reading other stuff.
Either way, it's not like if you click on the thread you're stuck waiting for it to finish loading before you can back out of it. Just hit the back button. |
That thread took less than 30sec to download for me. I used to defend dial up too. Especially when I got it for free. But when that ended I thought I'd try the high speed stuff. I got rid of a couple premium channels to offset the cost. WOW!!! What a difference!
Dial up is like this: http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/pc2.gif High Speed is like this: http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/yltype.gif BTW: There is no affil here with any high speed internet people. |
Why suffer thru dial-up when you dont have to???
When I had dial-up I use to yell & scream at the computer  Now all these great pics load in about 10 seconds. PWD its time to upgrade :) |
He's probably typing a response right now but we have to wait for it to download..... :D
I have been on the list for high-speed for 2 years, but, being a few miles too far out of the 'zone' and 1/4 mile off the road, I'll have to wait. But then, having dial-up, I used to waiting. ;)

Try to find fixed wireless in your area, it was the only way I could get high speed unless I wanted to spend $30,000 and do 90% of the work for cable.
11,000 posts on dial up? Ouch.
people still use dial up ??? come on!! you're kidding right ??
I didn't know dial up still existed.
he can't get it where he lives

Can anyone please tell me what dial-up is?
What town or area of Oregon?
Randy nailed it...I live too far from the phone center for DSL, and the local cable company...well, I don't want to get started on that one. In a nutshell, it sucks and still charges a bundle. So, dial up it is....I also send smoke signals. ;)
Dial up? what it dail up?
pwd72s....scroll down and take a look at the cities and areas serviced in Oregon.

When I visit my Mom she still has dial-up. Reminds me of my Grandmothers b/w tv with pliers to change the channel.
WTF:rolleyes: |
