Pics from the cockpit?

Time for a break from the political back and forth...I fly from Chicago to Atlanta every Monday, and have lately seen some amazing sunsets from my seat--JoeA or SingPilot--any shots from the cockpit? Clouds, sunrises, sunsets, storms, etc...?
Next week I'll bring my camera along--anyone else?
Christian.

Id love to see these pics. I am seriously thinking of going after a Private Pilots license...

Definitely do it. One of the most rewarding things I've done in my life (Commercial/Instrument/ASEL/AMEL/CFI/CFII/MEI). Flew commercially for about two years also before the industry went to **** and I decided there wasn't a future in it any longer.

I've got some fantastic pics - I'll try to find some. . .

God I miss airplanes though - gotta' get up there again soon.

OK. You want them...You get them...

This one was taken by me out the cockpit side window a couple of winters ago while cruising back to Chicago from the East Coast at 35,000 feet. This was taken just before sunrise

Those are completely cool pics, scott.

air-cool-me 12-20-2005 04:05 AM

no one wants to see me climbing 300fpm at 72 knots....:(

so keep posting those great shots from 35,000!

I kick myself for not having a camera at the time - Once saw a double circular rainbow (looked like a bullseye). The aircraft in front of me was flying right through the center of it. Juneau, Alaska.

Very nice guys! Joe, the one with the daughter waving goodbye to her father should be on a postcard or something, very nicely done.

not my words. The link is doable.

Jorn Olsen works for the Dutton-Lainson Co. in Hastings, Nebraska, and lives by Heartwell Park next to HastingsCollege. The other night, probably just after the big storm hit, he took these photos and sent them to UNL which, then posted them to the following URL. The stadium lights are at the Hastings College stadium just east of his home.

The clouds are called Mammatus clouds and there's a link on this URL that tells about them. They do not precede a tornado, or fortell a storm, but are formed when the air is already saturated with rain droplets and/or ice crystals and begins to sink. The worst of the storm is usually over when these kind of clouds are seen. They are quite rare, and really beautiful.

I do not have many here at work but here are some.

Meigs Field (right before it's untimely demise) and Chicago

Sad about Meigs Field. I left Chicago one night and the next morning it was bulldozed when I flew back over it while on approach to O'Hare. I was shocked. The balls of that corrupt mayor. Totally old-school.

I have a couple, unfortunately not from the cockpit, but pretty close behind...

AA 777 out of KLAX over Colorado, I believe:

AA 767 departing LFPG (Charles de Gaulle):

Same flight over the Channel, I think that's Margate:

Lining up over the North Atlantic Flight Corridor, I saw another AA 76 (maybe a 77):

TN A340 (Air Tahiti Nui) over Arizona on our way to Paris:

I love airplanes and international travel!!

Your I.P. address has been logged and you will soon be visited by men in black coats late at night. ;)

99.9% of Chicagoans could care less about Meigs. It was sort of cool to have, but generally considered a huge waste of prime real estate.

The bummer was Da Mayors excuse about potential 'terrorism' because of the airport. The shutdown was really just a political F.U. to both the feds and our state government.

450knotOffice 12-20-2005 11:15 AM

Nice photos Don.

Einreb, what has become of that land? I haven't been up in that area in over a year.
