Dr. Win_the_War

Too good not to share, and so true.

So now The Leader tells us we are "addicted" to foreign oil, and must go, if not cold turkey, into an expensive, tax-funded recovery program that will further enrich the feds.

Why is foreign oil supposed to be a problem? We are also addicted to Chinese clothes, Japanese electronics, German cars, and a host of other imports. All non-coerced trade is beneficial to both parties, and in the case of international trade, also promotes peace among nations. This is consonant with the commercial society this was supposed to be, rather than a vicious empire.

Oil is no different from other goods. Leaving aside the Bush crazies, buying Arabian oil should make us less likely to want to bomb them. This process has been shortcircuited by more than sixty years of US killing and looting in the Middle East, however.

Pull the troops out, abolish the CIA, and trade, trade, trade. But that would mean we want peace and prosperity rather than dominion and blood. The Leader has other plans.
And, a later post on the same subject.

Bush's Al Gore/Sierra Club-like complaint that we are supposedly "addicted to foreign oil" is actually more than a little bone chilling. His handlers and speechmakers obviously included this to prepare us for further military invasions of other Middle East countries. As long as we trade with these countries, the crazed, bloodthirsty neocons at the Heritage Foundation, Weekly Standard, National Review, AEI, Hoover, and elsewhere understand that there will be great public opposition to their Jacobin crusade to remake the world in the image of Irving Kristol.

If Rush Limbaugh does a 360 and begins supporting this environmentalist psychobabble, after ridiculing Al Gore for it for all these years, then he should be considered as the biggest ass-kissing hypocrite in America and no better than the worst of Soviet and Nazi propagandists. http://blog.lewrockwell.com/
Both well thought out and very appropriate responses to the Bush monologue, by two of America's finest scholars.

Are you an American too?

Victor 02-01-2006 06:23 PM

Australian.

Well thought out? Urm, not to nit-pick....well, okay, I'm nit-picking...."if Rush Limbaugh does a 360", as the writer states, wouldn't that leave him right where he was originally?

Perhaps the writer meant a 180... ;)

Victor 02-01-2006 06:31 PM

Pat,

We are quite possibly as much a victim of the US administration as you. Therefore, it is indeed well worth "burdening" myself with current affairs concerning (in particular) US foreign policy and the insane goings-on in the ME.......

No, he is a lefty like you...You crossed the line Pat, you have philosophically joined the ranks of the communists against the great enemy neo-cons...You have evidently concluded sacrificing your soul at their altar is going to get you 72 virgins when you meet Allah.

Randy

I think the author is chasing his tail, so I am sure "360" was some sort of Freudian slop.

Have we met?

Dantilla 02-01-2006 06:45 PM

Such silly, illogical "logic", that I find it hard to believe an intelligent person could actually agree.

Buh-bye.

Rodeo 02-01-2006 06:45 PM

If Rush did a 720, he'd probably get dizzy and fall down.

Pat, that was a bunch of drivel you posted. Comparing oil to Chinese textiles, German cars ... what a crock, as though every commodity shared the same economic, social, cultural status. Oil is IMPORTANT. Think back to the embargo. A slightly different impact than if the Chinese decided to stop selling us tee shirts.

And why is denying global warming somehow libertarian? Ignoring science is ignorant, and knows no political party. Just ask George Bush. Global warming is very real, universally accepted by the scientific community. The only debate is whether it will bite us sooner or later.

Good on ya, Randy.

Nonsense. He is one of "America's finest scholars". He clearly meant what he wrote.:D

So, OK, we leave the middle east alone and just buy oil from them. Let a few of them get rich...

... and oppress the rest of them. A la Hussein. Leave them alone to gas eachother, and nuke eachother, and enslave their women. Tyranny. Brutality. Mass graves. Torture. Genocide....

But hey,

It's all good. As long as we have cheap gas, and don't have to worry about any Americans being killed.

I think you missed the point entirely. Oil is precisely the same as any other thing, it's reased to importance by it's desireability, but that shouldn't give the federal government any power whatsoever.

That was the point.

Global warming, as a effect of human activity, isn't science based in any known way. Yes, I can prove that, but it would take another thread.

Clearly, you've tried to make a joke. It fell rather flat.

Get a grip, and stop whining like a pathetic little weasel.

Bush is as socialist a president as we've had since Lyndon Johnson. Your constant attempts to portray me as a socialist is silly.

FrayAdjacent911 02-01-2006 08:04 PM

Pat, not a joke. Just an illustration of the things we'd have to ignore if we went with a trade and isloation policy.

Frankly, I think... we're damned if we do, damned if we don't.

Far to the right of the left. Your tired leftist style regurgitations, your support of the UN's supremacy, and your attacks on Bush, only further the left's objectives...You offer nothing but friendly fire, putting you in league with the socialists.
