The Stones.

What a mistake by the league. That was aweful! The whole room at my place was laughing and shaking their heads, it was a circus freak show not a concrert. They use to have it........it's gone...long gone.

I was embarrassed for them, maybe that's what they were going for?

TerryBPP 02-06-2006 06:26 AM

I switched channels about 2 mins into the Stones. There was a really good episode of the Simpons on. Homer crashed a Lambo twice!

Jims5543 02-06-2006 07:22 AM

Agreed, we watched the show and it was sad. Man, the drugs have really taked their toll on those guys. They should be anti-drug spokesman. I have seen 80 year olds that look healthier than them. Skinny does not equal healthy.

Mich seemed to be able to shake it still but when he struted he looked like he was limping.

I am sure the NFL was happy because they were FCC safe, even with the 5 second delay and editing. I laughed when the word "come" and "cock" was edited out. They do not do that on the radio, wtf?

lendaddy 02-06-2006 07:33 AM

My personal favorite was when the camera caught the drummer coughing up a lung in the middle of Satisfaction:)

I thought they were great given their age.

When Mic raised his arm up in the air you could could see all his fat like hanging down and stuff. but over all, I thought they did a great job!

I hope to be that active when I am older.

I didn't see any fat. I saw lack of muscle tone typical of your run of the mill drug addict. I am sure they are clean now but man, the damage is done.

The crowd I was with loved it (late 40's early 50's).

The big fabric tounge being pulled back was pretty cool.

lendaddy 02-06-2006 07:47 AM

Good for their age? I think you think they're older than they are, which is forgivable given their appearance:)

Hey, maybe we can have them back in twenty years and watch them NOT **** themselves on stage, which would also be good for their age.:D

targa911S 02-06-2006 08:19 AM

First let me say I am a Stones fan. A big Stones fan. Yes I hope I can keep up with Mick when I'm 60, hope I don't look like Kieth, who did NOT look well yesterday I might add. Mind you Keith has never been the picture of good health, but he really looked sick. Are they appropriate for Super Bowl? Hell yeah, there is no band that can work a big room like thay can, with the exception of U-2 or Pink Floyd. Mick IS the ultimate front man. Are they good compared to the wealth of current talent out there today from younger musicians? I didn't notice that there WAS any talent out there.

Did they suck? Yep sure did. The sound mix was aweful though not their fault. Song selection?? Come on Boys you couldn't come up with somethng better than the tired old "Start me up" and "Satisfaction" with the depth of repitoire that they have?
I love those guys but they are disappointing me too many times lately. First with the ticket prices on the last tour and now a piss poor performance on world TV.

Hey,

Anyone that lives that kind of rock and roll lifestyle will age quickly. I do not think they are older than they are. And yes, I thought they put on a hell of a performance!

I was sitting next to a woman at the bar last night When the Stones took the stage. She told me about how she used to idolize those guys. She seemed saddened by Mic's appearance and made a few comments about his arms and stuff. I guess she saw them the first time they were in Omaha (one of their first USA stops I think) She mentioned something about really thin pants and that she liked it.... BUT ANYWAYS

Most of the musicians from my generation that I used to idolize have either committed suicide, or overdosed` and are dead or mentally retarded.

EDIT: If Kurt were still alive, no way he could still go on tour at 60!!

Rick Lee 02-06-2006 09:47 AM

I don't think those guys look much different today than they did 10 yrs. ago. Keith has always looked rough, Charlie has always looked old, Mick has always been super thin. I've actually met Mick and he is built like a petite woman. He's always been that way. I don't think he's been much of a partier since he's become a father (several times). Keith has a cigarette glued to his lips at all times. He's the poster boy for what that lifestyle will do to you over time. When I saw them with Bill Wyman, Bill looked the best of all of them, but then he never moved an inch from where he stood when the show started. I still love those guys.

Which would explain that too-short shirt with the sparkles. How festive! :)

Rick star are supposed to look "cool"!

targa911S 02-06-2006 11:59 AM

I have met them all several times none of them are big guys, 5'5" - 5'7" tops. yeah Bill always looked the best.

Rick Lee 02-06-2006 12:02 PM

BTW, Bill says he nailed more ladies on tour than any of the others.

Z-man 02-06-2006 12:11 PM

Like I said in the caption this thread, they are still rockin after all these years. Gotta give them props for that. (Bad sound mix at the Super Bowl and all)...

My wife was all excited to watch the stones. She thought it would be as good as Paul was last year. We even went and saw Paul in concert in November because of his superbowl show, it was a once in a lifetime experience. Best concert I have ever been to by a landslide.

I told her not to get her hopes up, the stones were OK when they were in their prime but even then they were over-rated, they are sooo over the hill now it is pathetic. She said I don't know what I'm talking about.

As I watched I felt pity and disgust. i changed the channel because I don't like watching an old man yell in a monotone pretending it's singing. He may have been yelling, maybe he was talking really loud, whatever it was it was not singing.

After it was all over my wife came in the room and said "you were right, they were horrible".
I wish it wasn't true but Mick was terrible, absolutely terrible.

Paul who? Paul Williams?

At any rate, shouldn't this have been the typical Stones fan?

I'm not a huge stones fan, but I thought they were ok for a 60+ band. I mean, be realistic. They're old enough to collect social security. They're NOT going to souund just like they did 40 years ago!

svandamme 02-06-2006 03:36 PM

i'm a beatles man , never really dug the stones myself, except for a couple of songs, sympathy for the devil, tainted black, angie, and some other ods and sods...

let's face it , Beatles , from the Rubber Soul to the Pepper album...
laced with acid and mary jane, it just works on a higher level then the Stones...

truth be told , it was all down hill from then on
