Magic fuel stabilzer/mileage improver thingies

The lady that sits across from me just got some whiz-bang gizmo to 'stabilze' the gas in her tank and 'improve fuel economy' It's some metal disks in some configuration and you drop it into the tank. I've seen debunking of this cash-transfer devices before, but I can't remember what these things were called. It's 8:00am, and I feel like breaking her poor little heart.

That, and she got a K&N filter because she's planning on doing some dusty off-roading...

You should convince her to get a vornado to improve her mileage and power even further.

So if I drop several rusty nails into my gas tank I'll have more power and get better mileage?? Or do they need to be magnetized first.

You mean this?

Bio-Pro QX-3 Econo Fuel Chip
Up to 33% reduction in gas consumption

I can't afford to give away Graviton's can you?

I thought this product was supposed to be a joke.

Hilarious how far people will go to get something from nothing with these gadgets. But most won't take 10 minutes of their time to check their tires and keep them inflated properly.

A gizmo that sounds similar is the clamp-on magnetic do-dad that attachs to the fuel line. The seller claims it realigns the molecules and burn efficiency sky rockets.....lol.

Siphon a gallon or two out of her tank every week.

"Hows that fuel stabilizer working? I was thinking of getting one myself."

About the only legit way to improve milage in gas is to have a lubricaity additive and an octane boost. I have tested both and they do improve by a few miles per gallon but it is an ecomonic wash. A stabilizer is actually a trm used for fuel oxidation inhibitors. They do work - but do not impact milage unless you were to drive the car, record your mileage, sit for 3 months and drive again. The fuel with the stabilizer will provide a better mile/gl than the one without. The stabilizer will not improve the fuel, just slow down the oxidation process.

Trust me, if there was anything legit out there we would have invented it, stole it, copied it or brokered it!

If there were anything legit out there, the car companies would be using them to boost thier CAFE scores.
