if you want to burn a red book (ie audio) cd, just burn it in iTunes. If you want to burn a data cd with the files, and want them mp3, you need to first burn as an audio disc, then rip the disc back into iTunes (make sure that mp3 is set as your prefered file format). Then you can burn them to a data disc.

you cannot do a direct conversion. You have to burn and re-rip.

Speaking of mp3's, the latest I heard is that any new mp3's that you burn will have a digital signal with your personal signature (ip address ?) that can be traced back to you. Copy a cd, give it to a friend, they load it on a computer and then share it, it will come back to you as the originator. Hmmm.

Andy --
Get Jhymn, which will convert the iTunes songs. Add in the instructions that you want to remove a certain atom that is embedded in the iTunes song to show it's origin (read the instructions carefully when you pull down jhymn). Once they're converted out of m4p, you can use dbPowerAmp to convert them to mp3. The only issue I know about is sometimes some ID3 info doesn't make it through.

Not that I've ever done any of this or advocate it.

Best,

JP
