Big whoop!...Obviously many more were willing to fight and die for their country...in the other countries that did not surrender immediately...Poland, UK, US, Russia, China, etc

Freedom is not free.

The French were invaded. They fought the invader tooth and tong, by any means possible including IED's planted along the roadside.

Any questions?

For how long Pat? Are you trying to rewrite history again...or mistakenly talking about the Poles or Russians? Can you explain how they fought with all means available...yet lost even fewer troops than folks who were not invaded?

The French entertained the Germans in Paris while others died for their freedom.

They sure did! They even tried their own perfected way of waging war....surrendering themselves in order to give the invading force an overwhelming task to deal with...what to do with all these prisoners?

Where did you learn your history, Sgt. Rock comic books?

Hey there, Major Pain, you're beginning to show some cracks in your foundation, tough-guy!

This stuff is typically taught in World History 101...sheesh, you can really be such a numbnuts!

The Invasion of France
The rapid German advance would nullify whatever strategy the French could come up with. Defeatism began to grip the French government.

France signs armistice with Germany
"The French forces which have been driven out of the Maginot Line but are still resisting, finally surrender on Weygand's order."

For someone who purports to be so well educated, you really have a hard time getting your facts straight.

Oh, let's not forget about the Vichy Regime, shall we?

"Vichy France was established after France surrendered to Germany in 1940, and took its name from the government's capital in Vichy, southeast of Paris near Clermont-Ferrand"

Navy. The Vichy Navy considers itself as the primary defender of France’s national interest.4 Allied planners fear that the Forces Maritimes Francaises (FMF) will sortie to defend the French colonies against any Allied invasion. Should the French Fleet at Toulon sortie against the Allies, they will temporarily alter the balance of naval power in the Mediterranean to the Axis’ favor. They have the combat potential to destroy an entire Naval Task Group if supported by Axis airpower and submarines. It is the third largest fleet in the Mediterranean (behind Britain and Italy), and it is equipped with modern capital ships. French naval leaders have assured the Allies that they will not allow the Axis to seize the fleet.

These forces are willing and ready to fight, if ordered to do so. British attacks at Mers el Kebir (July, 1940) and the British seizure of Madagascar (May, 1942) infuriate the French. Allied and Vichy naval forces regularly skirmish across the Mediterranean.
