basement sump pump....
i'm moving into my new house and have a number of large fish tanks, in the basement there are 2 different spots which i can drain my tanks into (building a central filtration system plus a VERY large tank in the near future).
one is the drain where the washing machine and basement shower drain into, then there is the sump in the corner of the basement which is a well with a pump in it. can i drain my water directly into the sump well? is this where the other drain leads to? i'll be using pvc for the plumbing of the drain and need to know where to send it. thanks in advance :) |
I'd expect that the sump pumps to the storm drain or to the sewer.
Shouldn't be a problem. KT |
My sump pump pumps the water to a 1 1/2 " PVC wastewater pipe. You could do semething very similar and the water goes directly to the city sewer.
|
Mine heads from the sump into the storm sewer. I have my dehumidifiers draining to the sump pump so I don't see why you couldn't do the same.

On older homes in some areas, it was common to just pump grey water from the washer and sump pump out into the yard somewhere.
When was your house built? |
house was built in the early 60's i believe.
i think i'll try to make the tank plumbing feed into the washer drain.......sometimes fish water gets kinda stinky, i don't really want that sitting in the sump well..... stinky fish water can be annoying, if it sit's in the sump well it could pruduce undesirable smells :D good info guys, thanks :) |
