Rain Rant

I want the rain to stop. Seriously. It has been raining here for over a month straight and we haven't gotten any decent weather since I don't know when. I want to drive my 911 with the top down soon and not have to use it to go through puddles larger than the front spoiler. Seriously, you should see the poor car driving through huge puddles as if it were a rally car. Props to it for taking all the rain abuse. I want to go out and hang out with friends and play outside sports. Anyway, I have had enough rain. Take a look at the forecast... more rain:

For some reason, I am almost sure it will rain on Thursday as well.

Edit: I should mention this is my 1 week Spring Break.

Quit yer *****'n.

We don't see the sun from December 'til March here.

And it's not rain we get then, it's snow.

It will rain from now 'til May.

Oh, and we've had a tornado touch down within 50 miles every weekend the past three weeks.

And we like it that way.

masraum 04-02-2006 07:52 PM

Jeez, what a whiner. Oohh, it's raining and has for a little short bit. Please, the entire rest of the year the weather is perfect for top down driving. You don't have anything to complain about. Even I've got it pretty good compared to the guys that live in snow country or Washington/Oregon.

You guys crack me up. Thanks for cheering me up :D. Wow, a tornado already? Hope all of you are safe down in "tornado alley".

As a Seattle resident, all I got to say is.....

BO0-F*CKING-HOO.

Cali residents griping about rain.....classic.

We could use a little rain - when the sky did open up it dropped down 8 inchs all at once. Poor management - must be Bush's fault!

Matt,
Californians are spoiled. We all think some rain is pretty cool on the first day. On the second day the novelty wears off. On the third day we're bored with it & wish it would go away so we can go outdoors & play. Just be glad you aren't living where some of the other guys live, where they get serious rain. HardDrive knows all about it. I was in Washington (Ft. Lewis) for over a year & only saw Mt. Raineer (Sp.?) three times. I understand they have a high suicide rate up there because of depression.

Moneyguy1 04-02-2006 09:25 PM

Send some our way. I promise we will not complain.

Seattle, Vancouver, all the same stuff.

But it did rain a lot more than usual in CA last year and on, didn't it?

86 911 04-02-2006 10:22 PM

I think so. I don't remember much from last year's weather though. This year it's been raining continuosly for a straight month other than a couple of semi-nice days.:(

cantdrv55 04-02-2006 10:24 PM

We Californians are spoiled but I have to agree with Matt. My car battery is going to die again if I don't drive it soon or disconnect the negative.

Rain, rain go away...

Hey Chris -- your son has an '05 MINI? Wow, he's lucky to start out so well off.

Uh Matt,

You currently drive a 911. Really doesn't get better than that for a first car.

Speaking of starting out well off...
"86 911: Teenage member" :D

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to start the usual flaming like so many here do, I just found it funny. I'm a university student myself and when folks see a little Korean dude driving a Porsche, I can tell they're thinking 'he's just a spoiled Asian kid'. Of course they don't care how hard I worked to get this car.

Blah. Just wanted to say that for a while. Did you decide on your new car?

Yeah, I'm just emphasizing the lucky few who get nice cars when they are young. Most kids at my school drive either older beaters, or newer hondas. I recall only one kid as a senior last year drove a new MINI. MINI = BMW = German Engineering = the ultimate driving experience!

Not yet.. still browsing. Actually I'm going to fix the 911 up to correct CA standards and keep it. I might just get a cheap commuter car (BMW 3 series or similair) for college. Of course the 911 will still get most of the miles though.

Glad you decided to keep the 911. Cheap commuter car - BMW?!?! I spend most of my week driving in traffic and parking in lots where I have no control. I chose a cheap Toyota Corolla. Great gas mileage, cheap upkeep and is decked out in urban camo - door dings/fender damage. Not a chick car, but is reliable and easy to drive. Anyway, have fun, you are only young once.

Dave

How about investing in a hardtop for the 911? Maybe add EFI kit, get better fuel economy. Doing both should still be cheaper than a BMW, no? Emission problems, maybe?

HardDrive 04-02-2006 11:04 PM

Guys, as long as your car is galzanized (post 1975, yes?), you can drive in the rain. Hell, I drive a TARGA in the rain. Drip...drip....drip.......

86 911 04-02-2006 11:07 PM

Won, I wish I could do that, but CA smog laws have extremely strict emissions standards for cars built after '75. I have to pass smog every 2 years with my '76 cabriolet with the '78 3.0 engine. I could go on with that rant as I have in about 5 other threads I've started regarding my dislike for these smog laws.
