Ca to Florida, what to see along the way?
On April 29, I start my trip to Florida. I'll be taking Interstate 10 for the majority of the route and plan on making in about 4-5 days. Anything of interest to see? World's largest ball of twine? Best diners?
I just saw "The Hills Have Eyes" last night, so I'm not too thrilled about going through New Meico.

Try to do El Paso East to Houston at night. There is absolutely nothing to see there and a lot of it. I usually do it at night and it seems to go faster. If you are towing, plan your fuel stops as they can be a ways in-between.

West Texas is 75mph during the day and 65mph at night. Which way do you want to go from El Paso to San Antonio?

the best steak you will ever eat is right outside of elpaso, tx.
cattlemen's land and cattle company. it is in FABEN, tx. and is about 30 minutes east of EP. if you have a great digestive system, do stop there. steak is best rinsed down with one of their margaritas. marfa lights?, carlsbad caverns, white sands new mexico?

Grand Canyon is probably a bit outta the way, but if you haven't been and won't be out that way again soon, it's well worth the detour.
There's Caverns at Sonora, TX just a couple mins. off I-10. New Orleans would surely welcome visitors. Battleship Alabama and a pre-nuke sub and a bunch of planes on display at Mobile about 100 yards off I-10. Museum of Naval Aviation at Pensacola. Disney World. My In-laws use 290 thru Austin to bypass San Antonio and swear that it shortens the trip considerable. |
