masraum 04-19-2006 07:11 PM

Damn, are they suicidal??

That's just not smart.

M.D. Holloway 04-19-2006 07:16 PM

Hard to believe, scary if true.

Jeff Higgins 04-19-2006 07:22 PM

Wow. Just wow. Biggest morons I think I have ever seen in action. Those Marine guards would have killed them in a heartbeat.

Years ago, like 20-some odd, I was working on the EA-4B Airborne Command Post aircraft. These are the four 747's that rotate so that one is in the air over the Pres no matter where he is. We were doing some re-fitting on them, so they came into Paine Field. Complete with Marine guards with M-16's.

Out manager gathered us all together for a little "come to Jesus" meeting, realizing that many on his team somewhat prided themselves as pranksters and smart a$$es. He laid down the law. "Not here; no way no how. Those guards are chosen SPECIFICALLY for their lack of a sense of humor. Those M-16's are loaded. Don't ***** with them..." We got the message; loud and clear.

A) Someone should loose their ****** job if thats real.

b) THAT RULES.

How high off the ground is a 747 engine? Higher than he could shoot while being on the ground.

It's a fake.

Actually, on #2 and #3 the bottom most lip of the cowl is about waist high. They are far lower than you might think.

Hmmm, I spent 14 years at Boeing.........damn well better believe it is possible.

The freakin' moron explains it here:

huge nads, no doubt... not a lot of brains though. I think he's huffed a little too much spray paint in his days.

Neilk 04-19-2006 07:52 PM

That's a 747 painted for a movie. The real AF1 has a lot more antennas on the top of the fuselage as well as a hump on the nose for refueling.

Pretty funny vid though.

Porsche-O-Phile 04-20-2006 05:10 AM

Certainly believable. . . A lot more of security is simply a deterrent to semi-honest people than people realize. Although I bet in this case those guys really would have shot first and asked questions later. . .

widebody911 04-20-2006 06:33 AM

I saw somewhere else (don't recall the link) that this was a fake

Oh. Last time I was near a plane was last year, I figured the #1 engine would be 10 feet off the ground.

Dave L 04-20-2006 08:04 AM

even as a fake I cant help but ask why? It seems like a lot of trouble to make his point that kids should be able to roam the streets with markers and spray paint.

jeffgrant 04-20-2006 10:59 AM

Their attitude bugs me.

Their "disclaimer": Marc Ecko Enterprises does not condone illegal activity, acts of vandalism, or the destruction of other people's property. We do, however, advocate freedom of expression, graffiti as a recognized art form and the protection of consumer rights regardless of age, race, religion or political affiliation.

Yeah, it's one big "we don't condone doing the stuff we just said we did, but we did it anyway".

Craig 930 RS 04-20-2006 11:55 AM

Such a load. Such a case of self promotion....

artplumber 04-21-2006 04:26 PM

"We're looking at it, too," said Lt. Col. Bruce Alexander, a spokesman for the Air Mobility Command's 89th Airlift Wing, which operates Air Force One. "It looks very real."

Alexander later confirmed that no such spray-painting had occurred.

Ecko acknowledged Friday that his company had rented a 747 cargo jet at San Bernardino's airport and covertly painted one side to look like Air Force One. Employees signed secrecy agreements and worked inside a giant hangar until the night the video was made. Ecko declined to say how much the stunt cost.

"It's not cheap," he said. "You have to be rich."

You have to wonder why the Air Mobility Command didn't know immediately that it was a fake.
