Why not a national boycott on biz run with illegals?

What would happen if there was a huge backlash to all this protest rhetoric and a ripple started flowing though the US to boycott businesses run with illegal aliens. A couple things would have to be put in place. A way to certify people are here legally and two, a way to certify a biz is illegal free. Someone start making tshirts, posters and bumpie stickers.

I am doing this. I already send Tyson Chicken a E-mail.

So far this is not affecting my day. I am curious if anyone else is seeing any big differences.

no impact on me. well, except there were fewer riders on the metrorail this morning. it wasn't completely jam-packed and that's a good thing.

Cannot understand why this bothers all of you guys! Its just a few people trying to undermine the fabric that this country is made from.

All they want to do is commit a crime coming into this country, then continue to commit another crime day after day after day until they can have enough children to overwhelm us. Whats the problem with that??

This makes me want to puke...

These students would be given a failing grade for the entire year and banned from any public school if I had anything to say about it. Hope you guys in Mexifornia have been writing letters to your legislature to get this stopped and fast.

Or on the other hand, let it continue, and we may just get the wall built and faster if more and more people see photos like this.

Hasn't affected me yet today. I haven't bought any Tyson's chicken in a while, but I'll make sure I never do it again now. Anyone have a list of businesses caving to these protests today? If I can't email them all, I'll at least remember a few to permanently boycott.

I think the INS should swarm all of the illegal immigrant parades and check everyone for a green card or proof of citizenship. If they can't prove they're legal then deport them. Regardless of how illegals impact our economy they are here ILLEGALLY. I don't understand why this subject is even up for debate.

There's been no noticable impact here yet - but the day is young.

Add these two to Tyson:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060501/ap_on_re_us/immigration_boycott_day_17;_ylt=AiDQD1MuWANR8ern2I Px_QJQuk0A;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl

"Some big businesses were shutting down operations: Six of 14 Perdue Farms plants will close; Gallo Wines in Sonoma, Calif., was giving its 150 employees the day off; Tyson Foods Inc., the world's largest meat producer, planned to shut five of its nine beef plants and four of six pork plants.

...

In California, a spokeswoman for Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said a boycott would "hurt everyone," while Democratic state senators passed a resolution supporting walkouts."

I'm all for a refresh of the old "Made in the USA" campaign. Manufacturers can label there goods with "Made in the USA by US citizens".
"Made in America by Americans" is catchier but doesn't quite cut it.

At school, we have Americans serving food and disposable plates/utensils, instead of the usual plates and silverware. Too bad I really can't boycott the school foodservice system.

Jim, it will be affecting you shorty. If the cost of homes construction goes up due to hikes in pay. Then growth will slow dramatically.

Lets make a list and see if you guys are still so gun ho:

Citrus and vegetables sold in supermarkets
Majority of manual labor ie. construction of roads, homes, and complexes
Hotel cleaning staff
Lawn services
Pool cleaning
90% of factory workers on the East & West Coasts
Lower level hospital staff.

Please add if you can think of anything more.

The midwesterners don't seem to realize that our base economy is dependent on low paying postions that white people are to "proud" ie. lazy to preform.

Mexicans are hard working people. I could care less if they are citizens.

I already quit buying Perdue chicken. I met Frank Perdue years ago and he was a real prick to me. Where shall I buy my chicken now that Perdue and Tyson are out? I never bought Gallo wine anyway. Please don't tell me my favorite gun makers or porn sites are using illegals aliens next.

Mexico. They produce a lot down there, and ship it up into the U.S. because the chemicals are getting harder to get in the U.S..

Tyson just reported their earnings:

Tyson Foods (TSN,$15) recorded a 2Q loss of $0.26 per share, excluding items, $0.01 above expectations. The company said its beef segment suffered from low capacity utilization and declining boxed beef prices. For the full year, Tyson sees EPS ranging from a loss of $0.25 per share to a profit of $0.10. The Street expects a profit of $0.03 per share.

Seems like a boycot could put them out of business since they are already hurting.

Terry, do you really believe 90% of factory workers on the east coast are illegals? I find this hard to believe. I don't care where they're from and I have no problem with any ethnic group being here. I have a problem with the sense of entitlement lawbreakers have and the refusal by our government to enforce laws related to national security.

BTW, I heard (forget the source) that, of what you pay for a package of strawberries in CA, a whopping $.08 is the portion of your price that goes to the folks who picked them. Somehow, I don't think the world will come to an end if the price of produce goes up by such a miniscule amount. Maybe it would mean the feds could stop subsidizing farmers so much too.

Terry, I'd expand it beyond lawn services to all landscaping, and beyond hotel cleaing to all janitorial services. Many low-end sevice jobs like parts runner, mechanics helper, "lot boy", etc. are held by illegals in the car business -- mainly because they are more honest and reliable than the American-grown alternatives.

And L.A. has large populations of illegals from Korea, China, Russia and eastern Europe that you don't hear anything about from the anti-Hispanic crowd. They, also are doing jobs Americans won't do.

I think despite the loud wailing you're hearing that most Americans (studies say about 75%) don't see this immigration issue as a huge deal. And in fact, there isn't one thing anyone can point to to demonstrate "damage" being done to this country by illegals.
