U.S. Restores Diplomacy w/ Libya

See...if you play by the rules, you will get rewarded.

Still feel that Cuba should have been done years ago. Do not agree with all that Fidel has done but there are a lot worse countries in the world that we embrace.

FYI... was flying over Africa recently and the air traffic guys told us to take a new route. It was over a bit of Libya. After a tense exchange on the radio (what is your overflight code, and we did not have one) we did an IMMEDIATE turn to get out of their airspace. They are still not real friendly at times to non-Libyan aircraft it seems!

Ghadafi makes Michael Jackson look like Ann Landers. A couple of cruise missles made him hum the "stars and stripes", for a while. Libya is a through-fare for West Africans into Europe.

Ghadafi is nuttier than a fruitcake. I personally don't think he's "playing by the rules", I think he's pulling a fast one.

Let's nuke 'em. :D

You're not the only one who thinks that.

Completely agree Joe...

I think this news in Libya has more to do with them opening their markets to US companies (particularly in the energy sector) than with Qadhafi et al. becoming "one of the good guys".

Old Russian proverb:

"Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer".

Now THAT makes more sense than "They played by the rules and got rewarded". And, if so, the Administration has done something on the international scene that makes sense.

john70t 05-15-2006 12:15 PM

Let's hope so.
My small brain can't decifer (or want to) the chess strategies of the present admin., but it keeps telling me that 25+ years of Fk'ing US education, destroying the middle class, most constitutional rights, buisness ethics, and imposing rather random "Christian" orthodox philosophy upon US citizens has a payoff.
I hope.

Moneyguy1 05-15-2006 02:17 PM

IF there is a payoff, I have yet to see it.

The current situation with tax cuts, deficits and distractions reminds me of the way the Romans kept the public in check with "Bread and Circuses".

Even if it's a sham to some extent, it's still a Very Good Thing that happened under this administration, and without spilling blood or creating opportunities for anti-US recruitment.
