The death of the nation state

I've read one of the texts mentioned below, and believe this is the direction we're going in and that we need to go much further along this path. Pat Buchanan is at his best in this article.

Quote:

The disintegration of Yugoslavia, the second partition of Czechoslovakia and the breakup of the Soviet Union into 15 nations – many of which had never before existed – seem to confirm what Israeli historian Martin van Creveld and U.S. geostrategist William Lind have written.

The call of ethnicity, nationalism, religion, faith and history pulled apart the greatest of all the ideological empires, the Soviet Empire and the Soviet Union, that "prison house of nations."...................................As the Old Republic trudges to its death, less and less do we hear that incessant blather about the American Empire, "the world's last superpower" and "our unipolar moment."
The world fragments in someways (break up of Soviet Empire etc....), and unites in others ways (European Union).

With the current attention on the "Mexican Invasion" it's no wonder we in the USA feel a little insecure, conquered and divided by a language on one front. Challenged by religion internally (religious right) and also abroad in the Middle East (Islam), second and third fronts.

The european Union is collapsing, likely to remain little more than a trade pact.

I like pat. He reminds me of a college professor I once had in World History:

Final exam:

"Both ask and answer those questions you feel are most relevant to the course".

Set up a strawman and knock it down.....

He is so good he doesn't even do it himself. He gets someone else to do it for him.

What ARE you talking about? The comments above have no apparent relationship to the global decentralization movement.

One, of course, I want to see arrive here.

Well, the question really is whether the U.S. will be comprised of little villages of rebellion, or simply capitulate to invading masses.

If it's a question of illegals, whatever front that is suggested we put up against it, is hopelessly late. We all should start taking Spanish language night classes.

Difficult, but not impossible, at least from states that have no Spanish history. The few that remain will be assimilated like they always have been.

California, Arizona (maybe), and New Mexico are goners I'm afraid.
