Mexican Power!!

Another excellent article by Alan Wall, an American living in Mexico.

Memo From Mexico, By Allan Wall
"Mexican Power"--What American Politicians Don't Want To Know.

Sometimes you run across journalistic endeavor that really stands out for its honesty and clarity.

I recently saw such a thing in the Mexico media. It was a graphic feature (using Flash animation) that appeared on El Universal Online . It is entitled "Mexican Power".[By Jose' Perez-Espino and Francisco Barrados, April 10, 2006] Yes, that's right, "Mexican Power"-the title was in English.

The feature, which you can see here embedded in an HTML page, or here, linked directly to the Flash animation, includes a series of 6 pages with charts that illustrate "Mexican Power" in the U.S.A.

I suggest you look through it. I provide below an English translation for those of you who don't know Spanish...yet.

Mexican Power--Page One:

Quote:

"Mexican Power"

"The Mexicans in the United States are no longer invisible. Their number has grown to 25 million, with or without papers. They represent a purchasing power of more than 378 billion dollars (of which 5% was sent to Mexico last year). The majority no longer work in the fields, as before, but in the principal cities. They are professionals, politicians, businessmen or influential communicators, students, laborers or those who work in the service sector. Here we present an overview of the Mexican Power in the United States."

A Mexican who is still a Mexican - and not a Mexican American - then yes. With relatives you spent years living in Mexico - a Mexican cop is just not who you want with police powers in a lot of cases.

Now if on the other hand - they are a Mexican American - no problem. :)

Mexican American.....African American....German American.....

Once they are citizens, they are simply Americans.

What makes this so hard for some people to grasp?

Sad, but oh, so true.

"I hate all (fill in the blank here)".

"But you hang around with (insert foreign sounding name here). He is a (same as first fill in the blank)".

"That's different. I know him."

Would that be the case, but alas it is not. Since no one is any longer assimilated into American culture, and encouraged by government not to assimilate, many now have dual loyalities, or never get a loyalty to the concept of America as a nation. In short, they bring their nation with them and where ever they locate becomes a part of their old nation.

We Americans don't want that, nor should we tolerate that situation.

A key element is to cease, immediately, printing a single government document, ballot, sign, or anything else in a language other than english.

A second key element to maintaining America as a nation is to reduce immigration to a trickle compared to the current level.

Being opposed to unrestricted immigration does not imply hate of anyone or anything. Why must you always state that it does?

Fourth Avenue...

There are some great Mexican restaurants there. But try Karichimaka on Mission someday. A little further out, but good. And El Moilinitos as well on 22nd Street. Great Salsa.

Do you remember these dreams when your mommy wakes you up, or did she invent them for you?

Moneyguy1 06-13-2006 10:38 PM

Play nice, fellas.........

P.S. The reality is that many people look at those who talk or look different as something not to be trusted. This is true whether they have paid their dues, become naturalized citizens or are illegal. Seems to be human nature, programmed into us to fear anything "different".

Independence for everyone who wishes it, you may remain a prisoner of the Union government, I'm not going to force you to do anything beyond leaving South Carolina alone.
