I got bit by a brown recluse here in NJ. I have never seen a Widow, but the Recluse is not too uncommon. needless to say it sucked, when I went to the ER I had a DR who just kepton saying it was a tick bite(we have a huge tick problem in western NJ, a bite is 80% chance at lyme disease). I was very lucky that I did not have a serious reaction to the bite. it swelled pretty good and was almost like a boil...hurt like a mf'er. I got the bite on my left thigh, I must have had it in the jeans I put on. Now my wife and I check our shoes and clothes before we put them on, oddly my cats don't seem to be bothered by the spiders(they eat them) although Frack did have a siezure that almost took her(she was in intensive care for 2 weeks). We could never pinpoint the exact cause of(we at that time sprayed for spiders) her seizure
I coaught one and brought it to my college and the biology professor was shocked! He id it as a recluse...scary little bastards.

well what the hell were you doing sticking his foot into anything in the first place? :D

one habit I picked up when living in Texas: everytime I put on any shoe, I tap each heel hard on the ground a few times, just in case. it saved me from grief more than once. I still do it subconsciously every time. old habits die hard. fortunately this is a good one

Ha Ha! So do I! My wife thinks I'm a little over the top but I'd rather not get bitten in the foot by a spider.

Ed, no problem. You make a good point and I don't have any kids so I tend to miss details like that.

Those lil bastids hang on! I have gotton to the point now that when the Kids and Wife rollerblade that they get the shop vac out and suck out anything inside their rollerblades.

I just have a bad feeling that with so many of them around and the fact that our Kids are so active it is only a matter of time. I try very hard not to make a big deal about it in front of them as to not make them as messed up about it as I am.

Heck Ya! Good call Moses. 8.1 mpx, 3X zoom pluss loads of space and more options than a trailer full of mexicans. Have you ever played with the aptiture and shutter speeds?

Yeah. I love the thing!

I always just use the Best Shot option. One and only gripe I would have is the user manual. I lacks the application and options information that would really make this device interesting. I guess if I mess with it long enough I can get to do some interesting things but it sure would be cool if they published a piece dedicated to teaching you how to get the most out of it.
