Anyone here know first generation Mustangs?
any good forums for original specs and options? working on a 67 for a friend.
Specifically asking, were power brakes an option on v-8 equipped cars? |

Actually, front disc brakes were an option in 1967, and power brakes were a separate option. The DB cars had a different pedal w/ the chrome circle on it.
We had a brand new '67 w/ non-power disc brakes, which looking back was a strange option choice. I guess my Dad didn't think that a light car needed power brakes. It had the high-performance 289 w/ 271HP, so maybe disc brakes were a mandatory option w/ that engine. The 271 HP cars were "K" code on the VIN, and of course there are a lot of phony/counterfeit ones out there now w/ values being high. Ours was a cool car, first fun car my Dad ever owned. He was 35 and just starting to make $$, up until then my parents shared one car, a '63 Falcon wagon. The 'stang made us a 2 car family. It was forest green w/ a black interior, 289 auto and it had the first Firestone "wide oval" tires I ever saw. About a week ago a lawyer that my Dad used to office with was in town and called me, he was the guy who bought the 'stang from us in '70 when Dad got a new car. I reminded him and he said that he wished he still had it, it was one of the best cars he ever owned. Sorry to ramble, but that was just my life going by. (And my Dad's). Sigh.....:cool: |

yes, the pedal pads are diferent. trust me on the 4 pedals, I can get you the part #'s if you wish. k codes are very rare cars - very cool |
i'm doing a simiar thing with a 67 stang that is for my wife, its an original v-8 car with the large drums up front, i don't think its power though, i'll have to double check. I did buy a disc conversion from a 1979 Granada. I need to find out what master cylinder i need to run, i doubt the stock mc will be able to handle the disc brake setup up. Any one have any idea, or anyone know a good classic mustang resto forum??

67 was second generation
64 1/2, 65, 66 were first this was back when cars reached puberty much quicker, so the next generation showed up quickly. |
