LA Times reporters expose Republican brilliance
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13773303/site/newsweek/
http://www.booknoise.net/oneparty/ [...] Republicans have nearly completed their plan to : * make the most of redistricting, so that most Congressional seats aren't really up for grabs * create software and databases the Democrats can only dream of--a huge advantage in turning out their base * make modern polling useless, since even the best polls can't measure the turnout advantage * turn Big Business into an arm of the party, from K Street to corporate boardrooms and sometimes onto the factory floor * stir up the religious right with one hand, while actually forwarding the competing agenda of their big donors with the other * create policies--like Iraq, Social Security privatization, and faith-based programs--that use the government's resources to tilt the electorate to the right and undermine the Democrats * neutralize the Democrats traditional advantage with Hispanics, women, and African Americans * fill the courts with conservative judges ready to keep turning away challenges to this new order

What was the question again? You want a response to this book which bashes Republicans? That's like asking for your response to Ann Coulter's book...
FWIW, the points you lay out above seem to be a political strategy for winning elections. Let's see how it might look if the Democrats were in power: Democrats have nearly completed their plan to : * make the most of redistricting, so that most Congressional seats aren't really up for grabs * create software and databases the Republicans can only dream of--a huge advantage in turning out their base * make modern polling useless, since even the best polls can't measure the turnout advantage * turn Hollywood into an arm of the party, from George Clooney to Michael Moore and sometimes even television media * stir up the secular left with one hand, while actually forwarding the competing agenda of their big donors with the other * create policies--like welfare, nationalized healthcare, and affirmative action programs--that use the government's resources to tilt the electorate to the left and undermine the Republicans * increase Democrats traditional advantage with Hispanics, women, and African Americans * fill the courts with liberal judges ready to keep turning away challenges to this new order Politics is politics. Are the Democrats just upset because the Republicans are beating them at their own game here? Here's a thought, quit your whining and put forward an agenda that is actually in line with what most Americans want instead of pandering to the hard left in your party. Then maybe you would win an election.

As long as the Republican Party is the Party for Corporations, and as long as they stay in love with low wages and imported, minority workers, elections will continue to become harder and harder for them to win. Dubya and Karl have pursued a brilliant strategy.....that lasts a maximum of eight years. maybe six. As I said a few years ago, America will remember why it generally does not elect Republicans. It seems to be remembering now. By a margin somewhere around 75%.

With all due respect.... Please tell me which party is actually in touch with the majority of Americans and why? Seems loke both fall far short of "What the People Want". Amazing how partisanship on either end blinds people.

With all due respect.... The answer to your question is neither. That is precisely the point of my previous post. When the Democrats were in power, the Republicans cried about how the Democrats were abusing their power and not playing fair. Now the shoe is on the other foot and Democrats are blasting the evil Republicans...

Sometime earlier this year, the Steelers beat the Seahawks in Superbowl 39. Some say the Seahawks lost it more than the Steelers won it. The end result is still the same though, the Steelers won and I didn't see any of them asking the Seahawks for another round.
Same should go here. the Republicans have lost it. Lost it all. their entire raison d'etre (look it up Nul) is defunct from spending to bedroom politics to failed foreign policy at all levels, the Republicans as a party are meaningless. Why debate them? Why debate the losing team? Just as the Seahawks aren't going to drop their uniforms and become Steelers, the loony neocons here aren't going to change their tune no matter what you say, no matter how rational, how many pesky facts you have, how much logic is in your argument. Debating them only gives them credibility, something they've squandered away at the expense of the American ideal. |

The first paragraph was coherent, but you seem to not realize who has repeatedly one the last few elections.
Superbowl 40 and next November are yet to happen, so trying to call the results are meaningless exercises.

There is no moral equivalence here either...The very fact that this list was compiled by the RATs suggests their own desire to hide their own corruption...It is certainly a much darker evil the RATs practice...This is a simple case of "who smelt it dealt it." |

this thread was much less interesting than I thought it would be. I figured it would be propaganda, but hoped it would at least have some reason, without being reasonable.
Why is it that the lefties keep their bumper stickers on their cars for like 10 years after the election. I swear I saw a Gore/Lieberman one last week, and I see dozens of the Kerry ones every day, any theories? Never have seen a lot of folks on the right advertising it on their bumpers, mostly they just go to work, earn a decent living, pay taxes and are happy.
