Friday April 13th, 2029. Mark your calendar.

An asteroid the size of three football fields will pass close enough to enter the atmoshere.

Could be 'the big one'.

Could someone remind me about a month prior? I'll be running my credit cards up. May follow that up with some unsafe sex (with one of those women your Mom warned me about) and Cuban Cigars. Or with Cuban Cigars ( a Clinton reference; got to keep it political here)..... Who knows.

Friday the 13th? This is a joke right?

mschuep 07-25-2006 07:40 AM

quick, somebody call ben affleck and bruce willis, they know how to handle this

singpilot 07-25-2006 07:41 AM

Nope. The name of the asteroid of something like 'Asperous'. A new software program and digital time lapse photography has started cataloging and predicting the orbits of many Near Earth Objects. This particular one is the first one that poses a danger because of it's size. There was even a caveat that an encounter (actual or gravitational) with another object might alter it's path for an earlier closer pass. I guess if it misses the first time, 2033 is another even closer pass for the same one.

I met with my financial planner a couple months ago, and he told me that I should pick a year to retire now, so that I will always be working towards that. Wouldn't you know I picked 2029. Just my luck!

No way am I gonna work all my life like a rube, sacking away all my money for retirement, only to have a damn asteroid take me out!
