Looks like I am going to Dubai
 

We ended up getting the order for supervision which was sent earlier this summer, so come October/September I will be off to Dubai for a month.

Then possibly a trip to Russia for the same(if the order comes through).

better dust off the passport.:)

My close friend just returned from 6 months in Dubai, said it was a blast.

You'll like Dubai. Kind of a gentile intro to the Middle East. The prayers are broadcast over the loudspeakers, the women are covered (mostly), but make sure to check out the shoes and ankles (as surreptitiously as possible). You'll see multi-carat tennis bracelets on the ankles and the latest fashion shoes. You won't see much of anything else. There will be a guard with a machine gun on the floors of the hotel that women stay on. The Mall is the place to hang in the daytime (more than 44C this time of year).

Make sure you buy a car raffle ticket at the airport every time you come or go. Best $100. you'll ever spend. A lot of crews have gotten lux cars there.

Did I really do that???? I sure did. That's what I get for watching too much coverage of the Isreali incursion while I am posting here.

Dubai is a hoot...if you are a runner/jogger, try and find the Hash House Harriers. They are mostly expats that get together once a week or so. When I ran with them, there motto was, "Drinkers with a running problem".

Great way to meet the locals.
