Headed for the Dragon...

Week of August 14.

Only 1 problem:

Not taking the Porsche. Family vacation to a rented house in Robbinsville. I'm looking at this more as a scouting mission for a later trip in the late fall.

What's there? I expect to be doing a decent amount of fishing, and nature stuff. Is it a good/bad place for mountain biking?

Anyone planning a run that week and need a navigator? I'll need a fix.

Lets coordinate the late fall trip into an honest Pelican meet. My 911 is at my house in Sylva about 1 hour from where you are. I would not mind coming up for a weekend of fun.

How far are you willing to drive to sightsee, hike, etc..?

There are a few members on here local (sort of) to the Dragon. Procon is one and has pointed me to some great sites.

Thanks Gents!!!

I'm thinking a fall trip - after leaves fall and corner visibility improves a bit...would definitely be in order.

This literally came about on a whim, looking for a last minute vacation spot before school starts, and not wanting to drive a day and a hlaf to the beach. Funny thing is, the wife booked the place not knowing the locational significance. I see it as Karma.

We're actually headed out back home on the 19'th, but I'll look up those spots. I'm willing to do a drive of up to around an hour for a good ride or hike.

This is one of our favorite day trips and we take our friends here when they come to visit us up there.

Take a ride towards Highlands and go see Dry Falls, its always a family pleaser. Then continue into downtown Highlands and go have lunch and walk around and look at all the cool shops.

If you want to make a day out of it continue over to Whiteside Mountain and do the 1 hour hike to the top. The view is worth the drive and the hike. Plus the road to both places will make you cry.

I also know of a semi-secret water fall you can swim in but its about a 2 hour drive from you and 40 minute hike into the forest on the Mountain to Sea trail.
