Sheetmetal trim for my 911?
Not really OT, but not really 911 specific...
Im looking for some kind of trim that I can put on the raw edges of the sheet metal on my 911. Im cutting open the front valence to bring air into my front-mount cooler and I need some trim to put on the edges of the hole there to dress things up and to protect the paint/metal/etc. Anyone have any ideas? I've looked around the local hardware store but didn't find much. Its a bit hard to describe, but imagine you have a raw plate of sheetmetal and you wanted to "cap" off all the edges to make it safe to handle. There's gotta be something out there I could use, right?

Nothing?
Nobody has put some kind of rubber trim piece on the edge of raw sheet metal before?

I wish I knew of one.
I've been using vinyl and rubber tubes/hoses on the sides to protect the tie down straps on my snowmobile trailer. I split them down the middle/edge with a mat knife - shakey at times. I did see some self adhesive foarm rubber for windows, it bends down the middle, but it's ribbed and very soft. Are you seeking a shinny metal or blackened (rubber) look? How tight are the corners? Radius? Mitered corners? I've looked into funnel shaped air inlets, the kind to duct to the brakes for the lower valence- all I could find was horns.

Mat, do you think it will get that hot there?
You can go to any auto upholstery shop and get fender trimming, I used it a lot when building up my Landcruiser ![]() -Chris

Yeah Kach, thats exactly what Im going to be doing here in a few days. I've already got he cooler all boxed in with sheetmetal, making the lines this week as well. Cutting open the valence is the last peice and I'll be back on the road.
Thanks for the heads-up Chris, I'll ask around.
