Post your scenic photos with your Porsche

We've got a few "random photos" threads, we've even got lots of great car shots. How about some shots of your car in a scenic location.

Here's a start. From yesterday, My 85' with Oregons Mt. Hood in the distance from a forest road near Lost Lake. The wife and I had a great evening drive.

Eric Hahl is a scammer guys. Trust me on this, since I've lived in Oregon for 6 decades...there is no scenery here. You don't want to come. There is a rumor about that Oregon is scenic, but you never see the scenery because of the rain clouds and fog....

May our former Governor Tom McCall rest in peace. (edit) A McCall quote:

"We want you to visit our State of Excitement often. Come again and again. But for heaven's sake, don't move here to live. Or if you do have to move in to live, don't tell any of your neighbors where you are going."

Tried to post earlier, but it didn't seem to take...

Taken last summer on a Pelican fun run on the north shore of Lake Erie:

Eric, you're probably too young to remember wnen McCall said that...it was his 1973 address to the Oregon legislature. Too bad nobody took that speech to heart. Today? Come one, come all...might as well, because since 1973, Oregon has become thoroughly Californicated! With strip malls, a tripling of population, you name it. "They paved paradise, put up a parking lot."

My wife's father and his second wife live in Portland, we flew up a couple of years ago to look around to see if that's where we wanted to go for retirement and so forth. One look at the income tax rate, and then property taxes was all it took for me to slam the door on that idea. The silliness about pumping your own gas was another. How can one deal with a government that intrusive?

Answer, I won't.

It's simple Pat...make no money. Then the state income tax of 9% doesn't hurt quite as bad. (9% on all income above $5,000 per year) Property taxes? Live in a shack, and in a low real estate demand area. That lowers those. You mean NOT being allowed to pump your own gas? Yep, that's an Oregon law...a jobs protection for pump jockies law, I guess. But I easily get around that close to home by sticking to the same gas station where they know me. Out of town? I just tell the kid that the paint is older than he is, and if he spills a drop, I'll break his knee. He then usually hands me the nozzle and a paper towell....after all, the state fire marshall isn't standing at every pump.

Oregon - Its probably miles bigger than the UK - with a smaller population, better roads and most people are able speak English - probably dont insist that you have to "integrate into the community" too often.
I do IT and speak (UK mother tongue) English and ride bikes and am a petrolhead and am financially independant - but I bet I cant get in to retire....

You would be correct, I was pretty young in 1973 and not even in Oregon. I moved there in 1990 but have since crossed the border and moved to Washington.
