Any guitar players/collectors out there?

Hi folks,

this is a shamless promotional plug.

In addition to being a Pelican and porsche owner, I build repair and restore guitars.

I have been doing this forever and I must say am quite good at what I do.

However I seem to be about ten years behind the technology

Finally I got my website up and running!!

I just thought I would throw it out there to you all.

thanks for looking

Do you do bass guitars? Do you do repairs? Where about in Los Angeles are you located? Do you know anyone who repairs old tube guitar amps?

I got pretty lucky and a guy opened a studio/guitar shop right here in San Pedro (Blue Mule Studio) He does repairs and will build you a guitar from scratch, have you heard of him?

And yes there are a bunch of guitar collectors here on the form, but you probably already know that.

Met this guy out in LA last month. He's a bartender at the hotel we were staying at.

Hello
I have a 1960 Les Paul Jr (TV yellow), a 1990 les paul jr (tv yellow - all bc of Johnny Thunders), a 1978 Les Paul Special (TV yellow), and a 1981ish Burny Super Grade flame top MIJ lawsuit guitar.

I play in a garage punk/rock and roll band from RI.

I am thinking of upgrading the pu's in the Burny. Stock are excellent VH-1 ones, similar to Tokai..but they are not wax potted and are prone to irritating squeals in high gain/stage volume situation.

Do I have them wax potted or step up to seymour duncan JB/59, antiquities etc?

As far as tone - think Thunders/Izzy Stradlin on Appetite etc.

Roman responds;

Yes I do Basses as well, I do from the most simple to the most complicated repairs. I am located in the Northridge area.

Amp work can be dealt with as well.

to deathpunk dan,
I highly recomend Lindy Fralin pickups. He is a very nice person to deal with and produces some pickups that Nail the vintage tones!

cheers,
Roman

Roman, beautiful work! Great luthiers are superb artists! (still remembering when a young fellow left these parts to build geetars...Danny Ferrington)...Just wish some of y'all were still here in the "swamp"!

I collect Taylors and Martins.

Little known fact - Ben Harper was a luthier in Claremont, CA. He was the only one who could ever get my Epiphone neck set right. It's lsted ever since.

The only downside was that he would pck up my guitar to show how well he'd fixed it, and then I would get depressed by what HE could make it do!

Lindy's a good guy. Makes good stuff. I'll be visiting him in a couple weeks while I'm on the East Coast.

If you look around, you'll find a well known guy on here that makes pickups too.

You going to the NAMM show in January?

Dan, if you like the way they sound now, have them wax potted. I'd do if for you at no charge but return shipping.
It's possible to do yourself, but tricky unless you have a digital thermometer.
